         “ – where’s lobster boy?”    He’s in a bit of a bad mood and it shows in his words; his tone isn’t harsh but the name is. He’s not happy, and all he wants is a drink. Or maybe to sleep for a few years. Still, he’s not sharp with her, but rather at the object of her affections.

It was very common of girls her age, especially “aspiring starlets” to take up stenography– it was a good back up if (inevitably) auditions went south. Also, it was, of course, so very modern for a little lady to have an income of her own.
