I’ve always thought of having Wildcard’s second alt mode activated during a moment of crisis - like watching a family member get badly hurt in a battle - and his emotions trigger the transformation sequence. And that family member being Calibreus is what makes it impactful to Wild’s character development.

They’re the type of parents who’d give a hard glare and a stern “Get up,” when their sparklings trip and fall. They don’t coddle them when they’re injured, and would instead tell them to “Wear your scars like a badge of honor”. You know, typical Decepticon stuff.
