it's insane seeing comments on that jokey "bluetoothing 60 pounds to thin people who call themselves fat" post doing the old scold routine about how mean and terrible this is to people with eating disorders. beyond the fact that there are Plenty of fat people with EDs who seem to magically never deserve 1/10th of the sympathy or compassion that's demanded for their thin peers, i really do think that even well-meaning thin people on here don't fully grasp the completely batshit harassment and dehumanization that fat people often experience at the hands of thin people under the auspices of "coping with ED." a large factor in why i turned off anons for good was the regularity with which i'd get earnest, paragraphs-long neurotic diatribes from these types about how my body was their worst nightmare, and they resented me for "caring less about body image" than them (lol), and just seeing me and my fat friends was a trigger for their ED, etc. etc. often not even in the interest of "trolling" so much as just treating me like a therapist or an untriggerable fatness totem from which absolution might be extracted (i got and still get plenty of outright venom from these people as well, but that goes without saying). given this kind of treatment i just think it's really fucking rich to demand that we in-turn walk on eggshells to avoid any potential offense to people with EDs -- a demand that, again, is only ever made in favor of those whose thin bodies render them legible as suffering from a condition, while their fat peers continue to have their disordered eating encouraged or even mandated in service of carving themselves down to a more acceptable shape
