We're 3 Weeks Away from Kisame Week!
We're back with some Shark Facts to celebrate our favorite Hidden Mist warrior in time for Kisame Week! For the next few weeks, we'll get to know the amazing creatures that inhabit almost every body of water on the planet; up first, sharks and their standards stats!
Size can have massive scaling! The largest shark is the 13.7 m (45 ft) whale shark. The 22 to 25 cm (8.7 to 9.8 in.) midwater shark and pygmy ribbontail catshark are among the smallest.
The oldest known shark species is the Greenland Shark. A study in 2016 calculated the age of 28 individual females, averaging an age range of 270-500 years old! This may be influenced by their Arctic habitat, which can slow their metabolisms.
Contrary to public belief most sharks are not large enough to create serious threats towards the average person–bigger sharks tend to live in deeper waters where human contact is less likely, given their need for large territory, food supply, and habitat.
Sharks rarely interact with people; often, when they do, it is because they are curious or acting on their instinct–protecting themselves in their territory or occasionally mistaking us as prey or larger predator.
Typically, sharks are independent creatures, but a few species can converge in groups! Grey Reef Sharks have been observed working in long-lasting hunting groups, while Zebra sharks are known to be playful around others of their species and creatures of similar size.
Certain species of sharks are considered to be deeply maternal! Requiem sharks, such as the blacktip sharks have been recorded protecting their young until they are large enough to hunt independently.

And so the countdown begins for Kisame Week 2026, our 6th year running a week long event in celebration of our favourite shark man.
This year, we’re shaking things up with a bingo board style prompt list. Consisting of 24 prompts and a free space for Any AU, you’ll be able to post multiple times throughout the posting period, or once and link out your works from there.
Most of the rules have not changed, so we’ll be recycling some of the old posts from previous years, and adding new ones where needed.
