OOC: Introducing RP Hooks
As part of our re-opening and in an effort to help promote RP on the server, the Courier is focusing on a new project: RP Hooks.
A RP hook is an IC article published by the Courier after an OOC request from a guild or single role player with a story idea.
To give Guilds and non-guilded individuals an IC platform to:
Publish articles that lead into new story lines or enhance story lines already in progress,
Present an opportunity for members of the community to draw in other RPers to participate in the story line or use it to start their own, and
Submit follow-up pieces on progress of their stories.
Your guild wants its next story arc to be investigating a rise in suspicious disappearances in Westfall.
The GM contacts the Courier OOC with this story idea in order to generate an IC article published by the Courier that sets the scene for people going missing in Westfall.
The original hook article can be pre-written by the RPer or the Courier can write the article; this will be decided on a case by case basis during the first meeting. If requesting that The Courier reporters write the article, the RPer will be asked to provide a minimum of three facts based on the story line presented so that we may implement those facts into the story written. Before we post any RP hook story, we will get final approval from the guild or player in question.
Hooks will be classified one of two ways:
Open RP Hook: This story is not being run by a specific guild or player. The events in the article are open to the server to use and expand upon and submit follow up stories if they wish.
Closed RP Hook: This story is being run by a specific guild or player. We will list contact information for these individuals. To participate in the story or for further information, please reach out to the players listed.
The Courier reserves the right to turn down RP Hooks.
Once an RP Hook is published in the Courier, the story is open to the server, meaning anyone is free to run with the idea and generate their own stories based around the hook unless marked as closed storyline with contact information. We will accept pre-written follow up stories and edit them as needed and with the cooperation of the submitter. If multiple people submit stories surrounding the same hook, we will work with each submitter to ensure it makes sense for all readers and does not damage the integrity of the individual contributors. Be sure to include any screenshots of your adventures!
For instructions on how to submit stories, follow this link: http://the-royal-courier.tumblr.com/guide “How to Submit” Tab
Have an idea for a hook? Send in a message to @constance-riverton, @theabernathytales or over on our Community Channel and one of our reporters will reach out to you to discuss next steps.
Guild/Player Responsibility
To provide the Courier with a general outline of the plot line including key facts that the community will be given access to.
To provide perimeters that are acceptable for outside participation including contact information to discuss items of concern with them and whether this is an open or closed story line.
Provide the courier with follow up information ( if there is to be an ongoing story line) be it follow up submissions or facts for the Courier to write.
An understanding that if the guild or player fails to follow through with the story line The Royal Courier is not responsible for the dropped story line and will make a brief conclusion post.
To provide a platform for guilds and players to include the community into their story lines by posting an rp hook story.
Get final approval before posting any rp hook story if it is written by one of our Courier members to ensure that the guild or player is satisfied with the article to be presented.
To keep an open avenue of communication as necessary for follow ups
To direct interested parties to the proper guild or personal representative through ooc information provided at the bottom of each RP hook
To provide updated stories as they are provided to the Courier.
The Royal Courier requests at least a seven day period to write, finalize and post an RP hook story they are asked to write.
The Royal Courier is not responsible for any story line issues that arise and will ask that the guild or player in question handle these issues should they arise. In the event that a guild or player shows that they are unreliable with follow through and/or dropping story lines we reserve the right to refuse future rp hooks with that guild or individual as stated above.
