Berlin Leuschnerdamm 1985. Looking North towards St.-Michael-Kirche which can be seen over the Berlin Wall centre right. The actual border ran along the front of the properties on the right, though the Wall was always built a few meters inside East Berlin territory, which here gave some access, though limited, to the houses.

The Berlin Wall seen from further along Bernauer Strasse. Rheinsberger Strasse on the East Berlin side is very much restricted by the Wall installations and fences. I am being photographed as I was taking this shot by a guard in the watchtower. I also took a close-up which shows him, see it here from my posting in May 2018.

Berlin Wall 1985. Je t’aime Francis.

Berlin Boyenstraße 1986. This road practically ceased to exist during the period of the Berlin Wall. All the houses on it were demolished, and it led practically nowhere. A creepy place I found it, with the buildings facing the death zone seemingly sliced in half. Those buildings were marked on the map as a hospital.

The Berlin Wall on Bernauer Strasse 1986. This guy appears to be running a car repair business right up against the Berlin Wall.
