So to catch up on the TEA…

It’s a well known secret that BigHit has now some bad blood with MBC and vice versa. So, In Korea, there are 3 major broadcasting companies that hold celebrations at the end of the year (three different dates but compete over ratings and such). Back in 2018 BTS attended all three of them including MBC Gayo Daejejeon that is held on December 31st but even though they were big artists at that time they were used and maltreated, as their performances were aired separately to gather views and at the same time they were not given the last performance of the night even if they had the biggest achievements amongst the artists that attended. Basically MBC acknowledged BTS’ popularity but still favored other artists because of the big companies they come from. Not just ARMYs were shocked and angry but so were Koreans that were baffled by the corruption.

In case you didn’t know, since long ago, big entertainment companies literally fought over the last performance at award shows. However, In the past 2 years no one can fight over it anymore because of BTS’ achievement that became so big no one can deny them. 

Anyway, the next year, MBC was fuming with rage, BTS didn’t just not attend MBC’s event. They performed in the other two broadcasting companies then took a private jet to the US and performed in the world’s biggest celebration of the night, New Year’s Rockin’ Eve in Times Square. But so far, BigHit weren’t trying to take revenge or start a war. It makes sense if you look at BTS’ choice. They performed in KBS & SBS because their schedule allowed it but what insane person would refute a Times Square performance in front of 1 MILLION spectators and viewership like 10 MILLION people for MBC’s Music Festival?

Fans and netizens felt so refreshed when they heard about the news and these were some of the comments:

Bottom of the story, last year, MBC tried to get revenge. They knew there was no way they could attack BTS, so they went against other artists under BigHit. MBC has been accused of abusing their power to purposely prevent TXT and GFRIEND from appearing at the 2019 MBC Music Festival after being notified that BTS would not be attending their year-end show. Many netizens suspected that MBC was exercising vengeful gapjil (Korean term for abuse of power) on them. TXT is part of Big Hit Entertainment along with BTS, while GFRIEND is under Source Music, which was acquired by Big Hit Entertainment in July. According to OSEN, multiple industry sources shared, “Ever since October, when BTS’s side told MBC that BTS would not be appearing on MBC’s year-end music festival, it has been difficult for singers associated with Big Hit Entertainment to appear on MBC. It is already an openly known fact in the industry.” Later, on December 26, a source from the 2019 MBC Music Festival *cough* lied *cough* shared in a telephone interview, “It is definitely not true that the reason why TXT and GFRIEND are not appearing in this year’s MBC Music Festival is due to BTS’s absence from the show. The casting decisions are made by the PD [producing director] in charge. BTS’s absence is due to their prearranged overseas schedule.”Regarding the fact that TXT had not been part of the lineup for MBC’s “2020 Idol Star Athletics – New Year Special,” an MBC official said, “The producers of the two events are different, so that is completely unrelated.” Basically, they thought humans dumber than them existed and that someone can believe their BS.

AAAAAAND, knowing that this year BTS will not fly to another country due to the pandemic. MBC thought that they could finally have BTS back. Especially after the group’s huge achievements that are still piling up, they knew they screwed up. They hoped BigHit who has so many artists under its belt now would think “business” and go back to them. BUTTTT BigHit said “HAHAHAHA you wish bish” and today announced a GRAND live concert for new eve with its artists (HERE). The lineups are still getting announced but it’s said that BTS, TXT, GFRIEND, SEVENTEEN, NU’EST, ENHYPEN.. might all attend. Now netizens are commenting: “Don’t cry MBC”

BTS & BigHit were bullied but grew SO big. They can now go against a whole major broadcasting company. Be not only independent as they have the resources to do so but also make more revenue and have more buzz and viewership. Idols in general suffer a lot if they can’t appear in a broadcasting company, as it’s their biggest way to promote their work, gain a fan base, be known to the public and more but BTS have their own variety and reality shows. Their platforms online have a very active, supportive and big following. A BTS’ member’s sudden live can gather over 8 million live viewers easily without it being promoted or announced in advance. This alone is bigger than a whole award ceremony. BigHit has been pushing the same strategy towards its other artists. Thus, MBC took a BIG hit trying to go against BigHit. cheers to Karma always being on BTS’ side!!

And then they just walk off like that, with Brook holding up the umbrella for the future pirate king like nothing, because he’s such a wonderful skeleton and HE CARES FOR HIS CAPTAIN HEALTH, GOSH NO DROP WOULD DARE TOUCH HIS CAPTAIN’S FAIR SKIN FIGHT HIM !!!!

2. THEY’RE SO FUCKING BADASS. We all know that they eat dead things. Eww, right? Wrong. They’re capable of digesting fucking rabies, cholera, hundreds of strains of bacteria that would straight up kill your ass given the chance. They deserve ALL of the respect, but they don’t get any, because ‘eww they eat dead things’. 

3. THEY ARE FUCKING AMAZING AT WHAT THEY DO - Some of the highest flying birds ever recorded, with amazing eyesight and smell. Vultures are highly specialised - yes, that means they sometimes have bald heads. So what? People are all over sphinx cats and those semi-hairless dogs.

4. If you think they’re ugly, well, look at these precious babs and tell me you still don’t feel anything:

THEY’RE GOING EXTINCT, AND MORE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW.

Populations of some vultures have fallen more than 90% in the last 20 years, and that’s scary as fuck. Reasons for this range from livestock carcasses being contaminated with certain drugs, to poachers killing them off because vultures give them away. But whatever the reasons, they’re dying off fast, and we need to act before it’s too late. We need to help protect them and conserve them as much if not more than some of the ‘cuter’ endangered creatures.

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN, PALS!!!! 

in the last year, I’ve visited several bird of prey specialist centres, many of which are now actively championing the plight of our vulture friends - trying hard to endear them to the public and supporting/ participating in overseas causes that help in various ways. One of these places was the Hawk Conservancy Trust which, if you’re in the UK, I HIGHLY recommend - both for the quality of the centre and the displays they run, and for the extensive conservation work they do at home and overseas!

Anyway, enough talk. It’s time to appreciate this sleepy boy.
