“And yet everyone’s in a rush to get to ‘Heaven’.” Using the sole of his shoe, he nudged at the twitching individual laid out on the concrete, blood pooling around the body which he carefully avoided stepping in. 

“And while the offer of free food is tempting, it’s already paid for in full by Madame Gao; it’s her establishment.” He shrugged.

“I planned to get a carry out bag but eating in could be just as acceptable…and entertaining.”

“If the lady is paying, I can hardly deny her the pleasure.” He walked with Koji towards the restaurant.

When did the lies stop, perhaps never. Being acquaintances at best made it easier to maintain and spew the lies, spin the stories, whether Daken believed him really didn’t matter to Koji in the long run. “I suppose it’s good to see a familiar face after being away for a lengthy amount of time, too. Especially when things change so much in this city.”

Koji is mildly disappointed that she hadn’t sent another beam his away, directly attacking him. And here he thought that he’d pressed all the right buttons to get her piping hot angry? 

…Oh, well! 

There’s always next time.

“Getting what you deserve,” he nodded. “I’m one hundred percent prescribed to that philosophy, myself. “And if that means cutting someone’s head off, or what you just did?” He whistled, hands in his pockets as he dared to step closer to her. “Then I wouldn’t blame you at all, because that’s what someone was practically begging for based on their behavior. A suggestion for you, though?” He waited a beat. “Don’t ever explain yourself. To anyone. Just do what you want. Even if it means creating havoc, life’s more fun that way, without rules.”

She watched him carefully as he stepped closer to her, tilting her head to the side. She didn’t move an inch but that he dared to step this close to her after that attack was either stupid or very brave of him. “Uh- what?” her mouth stood slightly open at his suggestion and she wondered who the hell he really was. 

Once the little tyke is dressed in his pjs and settled down for bed, Koji carefully steps out of the room, closing the door, leaving it cracked but only a tad - as is habit that he hadn’t been able to fully break. Releasing a silent breath, he walked back down the hallway to where his mate sat waiting and the nullifier took a seat next to her, more than a bit amused to see her with her nose to the cushions.

His fingers find a ticklish spot just below her ribs. “And I’m back. Miss me?”

Kuga squirmed when he tickled her, jumping up and launching herself onto her mate, just curling up in his lap and pressing her nose into the crook of his neck. Breathing in his scent, feeling his heat, Kuga couldn’t help but latch onto him and purr loudly.
