Jason's not sure what the catalyst was, the straw that broke the camel's back. ‘Grace’ was always such a heavy name to carry in LA, fret with expectation and a complicated legacy and the big scandal that was Jason's mother. Jason tried to live a real life under it; majored in family law instead of business law like his dad wanted him to, volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club and the local Headstart instead of the country club like his stepmother expected. Kept his head down and his eyes forward and his sister's name out of his mouth. But he was never able to really breathe until he packed everything up and moved to Piper and Reyna in Indianapolis without telling anyone.

Jason loves Indianapolis. He loves his old apartment and his little dog Snowball and her routines. He loves his job at Legionnaire Day Care and his class of three-year-olds. And he loves being close to people who actually care about him and not what they want him can do for them

But mostly Jason loves how he's falling in love, for real, with Leo Valdez

Jason would have U-Hauled immediately if his boyfriend wasn't so squirrely about the big stuff, the long term stuff, the L-word stuff. He's slotted himself into Jason’s life so seamlessly it's like he was always there, but he also acts like he's waiting for the other shoe to drop constantly. Any mention of something like an hypothetical moving in together will have Leo shifting in his seat and changing the subject

Piper had mentioned at one point that Leo is “Somewhat of a runner” and that Jason might need to “Be patient“ and “Give him a second” with the serious stuff, and that's fine. They had initially agreed to go slow, whatever that means. But since they are going slow for Jason on the intimacy front they can go slow on the serious front for Leo too.

And it's not like he doesn't show him he cares and wants them in other ways. Leo is all acts of service; picking up Jason from work when it rains even without him asking, not wanting him to get wet waiting for the bus. Building Snowball steps to every available service of Jason’s apartment and feeding him every chance he gets whether it's paying when they are out on dates or taking over Jason’s kitchen to cook for them. He sits in the quiet with him when work has been too bright and too loud and the past has been echoing in his lead too long, plays with Jason’s hair and calls him “Baby” and “Cariño” and “Cileito” until everything rights itself again

“You - mmh -” Leo sighs as he grinds through an after-shock “You spent all day calling me pretty”

“So you haven't been told near enough, got it”

“There's not a - ah - a quota”

Then Leo does this thing he does sometimes, he clenches the core of himself down on the toy him in one rolling wave. He sighs out a sweet little “So good,” against his Jason's face as he does it again, and then again with another high moan

Jason can't help but touch, he can feel the ripple of muscle against his rim, grinding the angle of the toy against his G spot with only his internal muscles

“Id love to be able to feel you better,” Jason comments absent mindedly, walls down and half floating off of being good to this man “When you do this I mean”

“Mmm, you could”

“Yeah?”

“You could be, mmh, you could be in me?”

“Fingers?” that hasn't worked as well before, Jason can never quite get deep enough

“Or more”

“Oh?”

“If you want to” Leo checks, slowing the oscillating of his hips “only if you want to, I don't want it if you don't want it”

“But you do want it”

“I want you” his boyfriend insists, cupping the side of Jason’s face with his hand “in whatever way you'll let me have you”

“Yeah?”

“Yeah. ‘Long as you kiss me after”

Jason can't help but smile fondly at that “What about during?” he flirts, leaning into his boyfriend's palm

Leo grins back, cheeks flushed and stunning “That too”

“And before?”

“Before as well” Leo pulls his face closer for a kiss that's all smiles “‘Long as you kiss me, I'm okay”

“Mmm” Jason melts into him “What did you have in mind?”

“Could just have you in me, you’d feel so good in me, better than this” Jason can tell he clenches down on the toy again, grinding into Jason's hand and his rim fluttering against his fingers “If you want to I - ah - I want to feel you”

“How so?”

“‘Just wanna be close to you” Leo breathes high and wanting, hips arching as he chases the feeling “I wanna get as close as I can”

And that stirs something in Jason in the way only Leo can, like he's plugged into Jason’s brain in a way where he can categorise and make real any little desire he has. “I like close,” Jason breathes, enamored
