Jason's not sure what the catalyst was, the straw that broke the camel's back. ‘Grace’ was always such a heavy name to carry in LA, fret with expectation and a complicated legacy and the big scandal that was Jason's mother. Jason tried to live a real life under it; majored in family law instead of business law like his dad wanted him to, volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club and the local Headstart instead of the country club like his stepmother expected. Kept his head down and his eyes forward and his sister's name out of his mouth. But he was never able to really breathe until he packed everything up and moved to Piper and Reyna in Indianapolis without telling anyone.

Jason would have U-Hauled immediately if his boyfriend wasn't so squirrely about the big stuff, the long term stuff, the L-word stuff. He's slotted himself into Jason’s life so seamlessly it's like he was always there, but he also acts like he's waiting for the other shoe to drop constantly. Any mention of something like an hypothetical moving in together will have Leo shifting in his seat and changing the subject

Piper had mentioned at one point that Leo is “Somewhat of a runner” and that Jason might need to “Be patient“ and “Give him a second” with the serious stuff, and that's fine. They had initially agreed to go slow, whatever that means. But since they are going slow for Jason on the intimacy front they can go slow on the serious front for Leo too.

And it's not like he doesn't show him he cares and wants them in other ways. Leo is all acts of service; picking up Jason from work when it rains even without him asking, not wanting him to get wet waiting for the bus. Building Snowball steps to every available service of Jason’s apartment and feeding him every chance he gets whether it's paying when they are out on dates or taking over Jason’s kitchen to cook for them. He sits in the quiet with him when work has been too bright and too loud and the past has been echoing in his lead too long, plays with Jason’s hair and calls him “Baby” and “Cariño” and “Cileito” until everything rights itself again
