Captain Curly had always had a hand for piloting, but where could it have come from? The marines, of course.

Here is Curly when he was younger, in uniform.

He is seen in the game having poor mental health, along with constant hallucinations before the crash.

I believe this could’ve sourced from previous trauma, this being the military. He was a marine that had a talent for piloting, his experience gaining him a job with the pony express after he was retired from his position as a marine.
