Otome Fowl (in development)

After much introspection and prayer, I (iesnoth) have decided to step down as the head of this project.

My mental health has been declining in the last few months (not related to this project), and I can't give this idea the time and attention it needs. I tried to jump start my depressed brain, but it isn't doing anything, and since my life is in the tank for the forseeable future, I don't want to prolong dashed hopes. It still lives in my heart, and I wish I could see it through, but I don't think that's healthy or productive at the moment.

However, if anyone wants to take over, I give up complete ownership to the Fowl fandom. The github repository is now public and free to use. I will supply all extra art I've made upon request, and even other scripts I've written (though you'll have to decipher them yourself).

If you, adventurous soul(s), do wish to take the helm, please think long and hard. This will likely be at least a year-long endeavor if you only use the pre-written script, and several years if you decide to go all the way.

Though hey, if we pass it down the line, maybe it'll actually get made eventually.

I apologize for letting you all down. I will mourn this project. Maybe one of these days I'll learn my limits, but I'm unfortunately a dreamer at the expense of sense.

(Winks) But one could argue that Chef Artemis's meals are magical in their own right - I've yet to see any Artemis turn down one of his meals, and we all know how defined our palates are… my mouth is watering just from thinking about it…! (Coughs) Although I've never heard of this "Butler Artemis" you've mentioned? A servile Artemis would be quite the hit in these halls, so he'd be hard to miss. So many bids on him with all the projects going on. It's difficult to find good help when everyone is so strong-willed and stubborn, you know?"

Like is there a farm where y'all can grow food? (plus potentially a farmer Artemis? 👀)

does food just magically appear in an on-campus store?

is there a big helicopter that just drops boxes of ingredients?

anyone can answer, I'm very curious!

(ps I'm still so so so excited for this game!! everyone involved is so extremely talented and I applaud all for their contributions to this labor of love. best of luck to everyone!)

Most of the food on campus is grown in the garden, though some more niche ingredients are-- delivered.

To be honest, how the food gets from the ground to our plates is a bit of an enigma, as much as the Chef himself. Chef Artemis does not speak often, and rarely leaves his domain. The few sightings we have of him are hard-won.

Happy Artemis Fowl Day!

In celebration of our favorite disaster boy, and to have some interaction with you dear people, we're doing a limited-time event!

Some of the Artemises in the Otome Fowl game have deigned to answer some questions. Those Artemises are: 1. Magical Girl 2. E-boy Artemis 3. Alfonse 4. Evil Artemis, if the question is good enough.

When you send in the ask, please include who you'd like to answer. It can be one or all of the above Artemises.

Some backgrounds I've been working on. Very happy with how Cryptid Hunter's grotto has turned out.

Probably should have written this at home where I have access to progress images, but I'm in a "do it when you have energy and remember" state of mind.

We're in art mode right now, with several artists on to do CGs and backgrounds.

I'm doing backgrounds, and it's been an interesting-- if not stressful-- time. Right now I'm trying to figure out a way to make them cohesive, so they flow well together in transitions. I've been doing some experimenting, which is fun and anxiety-inducing. Blah blah fear of failure blah.

2. We're also making progress on a soundtrack set list.

I want to post more on here, but I haven't done a lot of digital art lately (which is tied to my desk). However, I could do more sketchbook-type content, if ya'll would be interested in that.

Hmmm. Something to think about.

This week has been full of ups and downs, coding-wise. Here are a few updates:

I included a fun little remote easter egg in a side quest. Which one? You'll have to play to find out~ Ignore the temporary background please I beg

2. I finished Evil Artemis's sprites! Again. The boy will not sit still for his portrait. I'm on my third redesign: not changing @popsicle-stick's brilliant rendition, of course, but my interpretation of it. I think I'm finally happy with it... we'll see. All the sprites have, and will have, undergone some tweaking of some sort.

3. I've overhauled the inventory for the umpteenth time. There's always some snag. This time, the removal function is recognizing some inventory objects and not others, even though they register as being in the inventory. After extensive tests, I'm hoping it's a weird ren'py glitch. That's happened a couple times... but I need to wipe all my saves and test again to be sure. I'm positive there's a better way to be doing all this, but it's my first time coding with ren'py so I'm not hip to the lingo yet.
