This is concept art of a creature I call The Guardian of The Soul Pond. The idea is that it is a ghostly-looking, big cat of sorts, resembling a lion mostly, that is a spirit. It guards a glowing pond deep in the middle of a large forest. This pond isnt to big right across, but it is bottomless. It is where souls go to rest, once they have outlived their earthly bodies. When a creature or a human in the forest dies, the Guardian spirit of the soul pond will leave the pond to find the dying creature and free the soul from its captivity inside the dead, physical shell that is left behind. The guardian breathe onto the dying/dead creature, awakening the soul and freeing it. The soul will then proceed to travel through the forest to the soul pond, where it dives down and joins the millions of other souls inside. A place where the soulscan finally be at peace, and at rest.
Though the pond is magical an extraordinary in this way, it is still made of water and should you touch it, the water will wet ones hand or clothes just like regular water. Some who wish to die come to the pond and try to drown themseves, wishing for the guardian to free their soul and let them leave the painful existance on earth and move on to the spirit world, but the guardian will then dive down after the suicidal individual and bring them back up to the surface, saving their life. It will then proceed to speak to them, and threaten them to leave the place and tell them that suicide is no way to get into the pond. Only those who have lived a full life, and done what they could with their lives while they were alive, and died either of circumstances or of natural causes, are allowed to join the many souls previous to them that have been laid to rest in the soul pond, where eternal peace of mind and worryfree existance and bliss is the way of life. Suicides of any kind, do not lend you a place in the soul pond. Instead the individual who committed suicide will be left, the soul trapped inside the dead body. Eventually the confinement will make the soul go mad, and warp into something dark and sinister. Eventually the soul may manage to take control of the fleshy body once more, and force it to rise up again, like dark, twisted zombie-like creatures. The creature it once was still is not alive, the body is not equipped with a working brain or heart, and it is only the trapped soul that, fuelled by anger hatred and terrorized by the thought of an eternity stuck in that one place, becomes essentially a nightmareish monster. The guardian of the soul pond fight these lost souls, who are out for revenge and wish to force their way down into the soul pond in a desperate search for the final peace. However, should one succeed, it will mean the soul pond would get contaminated and nobody knows what results would follow, as luckily no lost soul has managed to do this yet. The guardian can cleanse the souls that come back as living dead, and once they are pure once more they may be given a second chance, in a new newborn body, to live another life and earn their place in the soulpond.
