These are two male Dravans. Dravans are a made-up species I created for my fantasy world. They are nomads, originally come from the desert lands but most Dravans leave their clan when they become adults, in order to travel the world and heal whatever hurt they can find. They are able to sense pain and fear from any creature or place, through vibrations in the ground etc, and they seek out this hurt to lend whatever help they can. They can communicate with all creatures, and thus rarely have any enemies in the wild.
Dravans mate only for reproduction purposes, however it happens often that they fall in love with oneanother. They just dont have sex, unless it is needed for the clan to grow. If the clan is a good size at that time, they will not mate, and instead show their lover affection in other ways. Dravan love is a lot more spiritual and deeper than the physical, and they see no gender when it comes to their affections. Sex and love is not something that goes together for them, mating is only for reproduction and it is more of a duty rather than something they would do for pleasure. Even if a Dravan has a lover of the same sex, he or she may willingly offer to mate with another individual if they are th only ones currently in the clan who can spawn a child, and there would be no hard feelings between the lovers as it is not an act of love, but something that has to be done forthe clans survival.
A handful of adult Dravans stay in their homeland with the little ones, and help each other to raise the children up until they are adults. Dravan families are not like human families where there are two parents raising the children. Instead, every new child is raised along withall other children of the clan, and all of the adults in the clan help to give advice and teach and raise thechildren. Mostly the handful of adults who are either too old to travel anymore, or simply made the choice to stay behind rather than to travel, will do most of the work in raising the children.
Every so often - some as far apart as several years, others every year and a few even with only a few months in between - travelling Dravans will return home to check up on their clan and reconnect with their loved ones. Every Dravan travels alone by tradition, so they go long periods without meeting or seeing each other. Dravans visit home to reconnect, check if they have to mate to help maintain the clan’s size or if theyre a bit older, retire from travelling and care for the younglings the final years of their life.
Dravans are extremely peaceful and spiritual, very kind and softspoken all in all. They wish to heal and help, and will sometimes even be called upon by other two-legged, civilized species to solve issues with nature and its creatures.
