it’s short again (sorry about that), but chapter three will definitely make up for it.

i was struggling with the stat bars after two years of not touching twine, so i stripped the stats back to the absolute basics, but they work now…so a win is a win!

changed the plot a little, tiny bit. it just makes more sense to me now.

next update:

chapter three! which will involve your journey to the site of the first clue, some parkour, maybe a mummy encounter, and meeting menna.

sort out the profile section.

anyway. here’s to hoping we don’t have to wait another two years for my brain to reengage with this.

Harun - RO

Harun is a proud and agile fighter with great determination, who would die before bowing to anyone.

Fiercely protective of his own, he trusts no one outside his circle, a trait that does not always benefit his people.

When his tribe was destroyed by the forces of your house he was taken under the protection of Egan’s and Loryen’s tribe.

The loss left him with a deep and permanent mark that will never heal.

I am finally done guys, just published the update which surprisingly ended up with 88k for chapter one, also I added more content to the prologue which is now around 40k.

For the demo is now at 130K, sorry for having taking too long writing it.

Some paths with the RO's left me still not content with it but well, it's just chapter one, and I had more stuff to add to the prologue but I didn't wanted to take longer with it, so for the next update let's hope I can do it.

you gotta meet a condition to unlock the fae routes! in chapter 3, during free time, make sure u go on their dates to unlock their routes. this decision doesn't carry over across save files u have to do it in the same save file (and make sure its not an old save file from an old build).

if u go to the flower festival alone in chapter 3, u will have the option to either rest (unlocks kuna'a) or collect a bouquet (unlocks aisa). once u do that, their respective route will be available for that playthrough!

if you have played past builds, you may have to uninstall and reinstall the game and/or delete the game files and reinstall because renpy doesn't update well across different builds. once u do any of those things, their routes should work 👍🏼

also as a more general announcement:

The battle left you battered and broken, both physically and mentally. The loss of your powers was just salt in the wound.

Seven months you have spent holed up, hidden away from pressing media and the weight of the world.

Seven months you have sat in isolation.

Enough is enough.

What it Takes is a mature, character driven interactive fiction that centers around a world where the Hero Drug exists; granting those who pass the Hero Program spectacular superpowers.

You take up the role as Sentinel's sidekick. The fight with the supervillain who took your mentor's life has left you scarred in more ways than one. You have spent seven months between recovery and mandatory hiatus, hidden away from the pressing media and outside world as a whole.

As you come out of isolation after regaining your powers, you begin to catch wind of a wicked plot unfolding.

Paul was formerly part of the Round Table, the country's most elite heroes. He resigned shortly before Sentinel's demise, which has struck up some rumors with the media. Despite wanting a break from the limelight, it seems fate has a twisted sense of humor. Due to the HPD, Paul has found himself as your new mentor.

For nearly three years, a mysterious creature has terrorised the region of Gévaudan. Described by survivors as wolf-like and relentless, it kills indiscriminately, taking men, women and children alike, leaving behind only what the strongest could stomach. Many have taken up arms, from simple farmers and hunters to soldiers and even nobles hungry for glory. 

None have succeeded.

To this day the mystery remains. Is it a wolf? A hyena? A werewolf? A wizard, or simply a human murderer? Somewhere between folklore and nightmare, between cautionary tale and genuine terror, the Beast of Gévaudan still eludes all.

Only one person knows the truth.

Because you are the Beast of Gévaudan.

A sibylline individual, their eyes are unfathomable and inescrutable, and hold all the answers to your questions. Still, Ruler Vesperinne is a person of few, if any, words, with a rather intense attraction to you.

APPEARANCE: Ruler Vesperinne stands at 183cm tall, with nearly translucent powdery skin, with high cheekbones, a defined jawline, and full lips. They have silky, dark hair that seems to be moss green in broad daylight, and obscure violet eyes.

AGE: Wouldn't you like to know?

VALERIA ANGELIAM (m/f) is Ruler Vesperinne's bodyguard and right-hand, a twisted parallel of the relationship you once held with your king.

A silent, overzealous presence constantly close by, almost blending in the shadows, Valeria is mute by choice but always seems to know exactly what's on your mind. In the darkness of the Umbra Court, they are just as bewildering as any fay.

APPEARANCE: Valeria stands at 169cm tall, with light brown skin that seems alight, delicate features in a heart-shaped face, and smooth, slightly down-turned lips. They have close-cropped, crimson-red hair and intelligent black eyes that shine with an unnatural glow.

AGE: I'm afraid that is also a secret.
