"They say, 'I don't want to read about Valkyrie training.'
What I hear is: 'I don't want to read about women who refused to let their trauma define them. Women who chose healing, chose each other, and chose to keep showing up. Women who are preparing for a mission that will test their strength, courage, and growth.'
Because if we're being honest, that's not really the issue.
What some people actually mean is that every page spent with the Valkyries is a page not spent on Elriel.
And that's what should be said outright.
The Valkyries aren't the problem. Their story, their healing, and their journey aren't the problem. The frustration comes from not getting the ship they some readers want.
So let's stop pretending this is about the Valkyries and call it what it is.
Because you're being fucking stupid if you genuinely think the Valkyrie storyline begins and ends with training.
Training in fantasy stories exists for a reason, it leads to action, missions, challenges, and real-world application. We watched Feyre train, and then we watched her put those skills to use. That's how character arcs work.
So if you read ACOSF and thought the Valkyries completing their training was the final destination rather than the foundation for what's coming next, I don't know what to tell you.
SJM didn't spend an entire book building up Nesta, Gwyn, and Emerie, have them revive the Valkyrie legacy, survive the Blood Rite, and include a scene where even Fate seemed to be watching them with significance, just for there to be no meaningful payoff afterward.
The Valkyries were presented as something world-changing, not as a side plot meant to disappear the moment ACOSF ended.
Sorry if you can't envision the Valkyries functioning as an actual unit beyond training sequences, but that's a failure of imagination, not evidence that their story is over.
And if every mention of the Valkyries is immediately dismissed as "more training," that says less about the books and more about the reader's inability to recognize setup when it's right in front of them.

One of my amazing friends @_banannikacos suggested this idea based on the @bloomsburypublishing promos and I couldn’t get it out of my head, so here’s a silly little doodle/comic.
Hope you enjoy it! Major thanks to @miseryreads for the concept creation!
Gwyneth Berdara, Emerie of Illyria, and Nesta Archeron from A Court of Silver Flames by Sarah J Maas
There’s something about people who say Rhysand is lying about his own rape that he endured for 49 years that makes me violent.
This fandom is so fucking stupid and filled with people who should stop reading these books because you clearly hate the author and her characters. ITS OKAY FOR BOOKS TO NOT NE FOR YOU!!
Not to mention, Sarah has mentioned multiple times that Rhysand is her fav. Literally go cry on a ditch about it.
Escaping the ball 🌹🎭✨
Where are they off to? To dance in their own world? To get to know each other in the gazebo? To smell night blooming flowers? To fall (further) in love? It’s up to you 😌

When people say the Valkyries storyline is boring, tired, and overdone,
Yeah I get pissed for the girls as a whole, but what truly pisses me off is what this implies about Emerie’s story.
Emerie has never had sisters, she’s never experienced a bond like this one. And on top of this, she was born into a world where being a woman is the worst possible thing you could be. They strip her of her autonomy and debilitate her, kill her mother and leave her with nothing but her store, which the men are also trying to take.
She spends her whole life systemically oppressed and then she meets Nesta, who also needs saving, who also needs to learn what being a sister is like.
Emerie takes the initiative to join training, to gain the strength and bravery to stand up to these men, all while gaining sisters and creating some of the most beautiful bonds we’ve seen in the series. She experiences girlhood for the first time ever.
And then she proves to the Illyrian men who have ruined her life, that she can be powerful, that she can overcome, and that she can whoop ass.
She can do everything they can and more.
You’re telling me you read all of this and you still think it’s boring and overdone?
Sounds like you prefer basic, male centered bullshit. And that’s just so laughable.
Valkyries Unite ⚔️
The top of the first page, it merely said, Chapter Twenty-One. She read the first few lines beneath it, then nearly dropped the pages. “This—this is about us.”
Gwyn beamed. “I convinced Merrill to add us into the penultimate chapter. She even let me write it—with her own annotations, of course. But it’s about the rebirth of the Valkyries. About what we’re doing.”
Gwyn’s fingers slid into hers, squeezing tight. Nesta looked up to find her holding Emerie’s free hand as well. Gwyn smiled again, her eyes bright. “Our stories are worth telling.”
"I am the rock against which the surf crashes. Nothing can break me"
"Nothing can break us....The world seemed to pause at the words. As if it had been following one path and now branched off in another direction. In a hundred years, a thousand, this moment would still be etched in his mind. That he would tell his children, his grandchildren, Right then and there. That was when it all changed."
It became the ritual: to cut that ribbon, to be crowned with its severed half and anointed Valkyrie. Gwyn was the first. Emerie the second. By the end of training that morning, Nesta became the third.
“I wanted them to know. What you’ve accomplished. That even though Valkyries don’t have something akin to the Blood Rite, you’re as trained as any warrior in Illyria.”
Friendship Bracelets and Wishes
But Gwyn grinned, beginning her demonstration by selecting three colors that she thought matched Emerie’s spirit, she claimed. Green, purple, and gold. Nesta refrained from snickering and selected colors for Gwyn: blue, white, and teal. Emerie, in turn, selected Nesta’s colors: navy blue, crimson, and silver.
“Let me make a wish for all of us,” she explained, gathering the three charms. A small gift—for the friends who had become like sisters.
A chosen family. Like the one Feyre had found for herself.
Nesta squeezed the charms in her palm, closing her eyes, and said: “I wish for us to have the courage to go out into the world when we are ready, but to always be able to find our way back to each other. No matter what.”
The Blood Rite ⚔️
“I want to take that road.” Her voice thickened. “I want to take the road that no one dares travel, and I want to travel it with you two. No matter what may befall us. Not as Illyrians, not for their titles, but as something new. To prove to them, to everyone, that something new and different might triumph over their rules and restrictions.”
“So we climb Ramiel. We take the Breaking. We win to prove to everyone that something new can be as powerful and unbreakable as the old rules. That something no one has ever seen before, not entirely Valkyrie nor entirely Illyrian, can win the Blood Rite.”
"Succeeding in the Blood Rite didn’t mean the training stopped. No, after she and her friends told Cassian and Azriel most of the details of their ordeal, the two commanders had compiled a long list of mistakes that the three of them had made that needed to be corrected, and the others wanted to learn from them, too.
"So they would keep training, until they were all well and truly Valkyries."
So you're telling me they had this idea for a year and instead of doing it right then they decided to wait and use this as the promo?
Oh Valkyries truly are special aren't they
oh that didn’t take long, elriels already in bb comment section trying to rage bait them, they are so pathetic.
They think they're being slick. Girl we know lol

The influencers were harrassed and DMed by Eriels over and over to get them to answer to confirm or deny things, are we surprised? So that’s why they had to address it head on. You’re right, it doesn’t change the fact that they tagged the event as an ad, meaning they were paid to be there as a marketing event, and that it was still Valkyrie themed. Elriels were so upset, they harrased the influencers until they addressed it. All for a Valkyrie event? They are so pathetic. Most people were just celebrating the Valkyries, sure some ran away with speculation but it’s no different than their side who react to every merch and sjm move if it’s an Elriel launch, and they’ve been shut down many times. If they can’t even handle a Valkyrie theme event, they are going to loose their minds this fall.
Their side literally screams elriel whenever a bird flies over their head like who are they kidding. Idk about them messaging influencers although I wouldn't be surprised, it's very on brand.
Bloomsbury hosting a Valkyrie themed event this close to the release is not to be taken slightly. Does that mean only Valkyries are going to be in the next book? No. But it's clear Valkyries are gonna have space. Otherwise they could have just done some Night Court themed events and stop at that. They're letting their bias cloud their rational brain. Characters who are based on the author's real life are not going to vanish after one book. They're here to stay. And the quicker they accept it, the less disappointment they'll face.
You guys influencers can say they don't know anything and yet it wouldn't change the fact that Bloomsbury the publishing house of acotar and all sjm books decided to make a Valkyrie themed event. Pray tell me why would they spend their precious money on "unimportant" characters when the so called the only main lead is right there. Especially with the same color palette as the new acotar book
I'm not saying it's some confirmation but it's clear that BB and the author herself don't share the same sentiments as that side.
