Also… I’m now in a poly relationship and have two partners, one of whom I live with. It’s been interesting navigating this since I’m on the aroace spectrum, but both of them are cool with the boundaries I have and my own confusion around whether what I feel is romantic or not. I know I love them, and I guess I don’t need to know exactly what type of love this is.
This actually has abated many of my fears about being in a relationship. Since I am aroace, monogamy scared me because I knew many people need something I can’t give them. I never want to be someone’s everything. Knowing that there is someone I love and trust who deeply loves my partner makes me feel much more secure. I know that even if I’m not in a place to step up to the plate, there is someone who can. I know that my partners love me for who I am, and not for what I can do for them.
Obvious polyamory doesn’t work for everyone, but for me it’s actually allowed me to feel ok agreeing to a relationship for the first time (technically two relationships lol) and both of them are such amazing people.
