Decided to remake the final shot from Son of Godzilla. (damn should’ve saved this for father’s day now that i think) Conclusion: I need some more damn practice drawing Gojiras. [ As the blizzard grew rougher and rougher, vicious and merciless. Godzilla was searching frantically for his child, whom he found shivering in the open, nearly burried in the snow. He grabbed them, and brushed the snow off of them. ] [ After this, Godzilla curled his tail and covered the cub with his large, looming shield of a body. Like a bear to it’s cub. Protecting it from the howling, sound-breaking winds. The skull-shattering and head-battering snow and hail. And the slowly rising snow, like quicksand. ] [ The two slowly became nothing but a grey and black speck within the blizzard. It is unknown to MONARCH what happened to them. Genuinely it’s fun imagining iterations of King Ghidorah with their Godzilla, cause each pairing can bring out a different sort of dynamic to them.
Showa era has Ghidorah’s debuted appearance as an outright malevolent being, making Godzilla the lesser of two evils. The fact that this is where the Big G’s overall character starts to shift as a heroic monster is really interesting. Of course the “mind controlled by aliens” thing would happen later on in the movies, which is a whole other thing.
Heisei has Godzilla fighting Ghidorah only once, but then brought back at the same time as a cyborg (still without autonomy). Heisei Mechagodzilla would even be technologically related to Mecha-King Ghidorah, which in a way, means he was brought back again through Mechagodzilla. It kinda makes him the most recurring antagonist to Godzilla within this era.
And then there’s GMK, which is pretty much a role reversal of their typical dynamic.
It all reminds me of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Just a bunch of different yet unique interpretations that can be made for essentially the two same characters and their relationship towards each other.
