Both GVK and GXK TNE are the equivalent of Batman and Robin with Adam Wingard, never learning from his mistake and just making them worse.
But there’s a difference between him and Joel Schumacher that differentiates two of them.
Joel Schumacher actually loves Batman and respects the source material even going as far as to apologize for the existence of Batman and Robin including George Clooney which is shows how much a good guy he is
Adam Winger doesn’t even seem to care about Godzilla or hell, even Kong and turn both films into a big ass toy commercial to sell his own ego going behind the scenes talking about how much of a narcissist he is with how he pretends he’s a fan of Godzilla when he clearly tries to make it look like he planned the whole thing out
(he literally planned it GXK TNE as a crossover this whole time showing he didn’t give two fucks about respect, only money and onslaught only proves my point with how dumb as hell it looks you cannot make this shit up)
Even worse is that apparently he had some behind-the-scenes drama with Kyle, Chandler and MBB so no doubt there’s definitely some bad blood between them.
The funniest thing though is that the Japanese box office for GVK bombed so hard in Japan so you can tell they were not happy with what Adam was doing at all so Toho had to have some kind of intervention after seeing the money for GXK TNE
OOC: Damn apologizing for a movie? Harsh... I think I even liked that movie, but I was like 8.
I didn't know about the rumors about the supposed bad blood between Wingard and the cast, so I don't really have anything to add. Besides I usually don't trust rumors 100%. Nor did I know of the box-office failures in Japan.
But what I can tell you is that Wingard and disrespecting the source material of a movie HE's directing is not unheard of.
Now,I have never read/watched Death Note. But a youtuber I like he's a huge fan. So One day he put out a review/breakdown of the movie, produced by Netflix and I kid you not, if wasn't for the names(as he explained it) one couldn't tell they were intended to be the same characters. All of it OOCs as hell. Matter of fact the movie bombed, critics were harsh!!!
The DN movie is almost 10 years old(It came out in 2017) however it seems Wingard has learn nothing on how working on established canon and respect lore/characters personality. I had connected the dots before I'd have spared myself the money ticket.
He must have been cheap as fuck or I can't explain how he got the job. Because let's be real Legendary doesn't like spending money on the monsterverse or they wouldn't have to KICKSTART THEIR FUCKING COMICS!!!!
