"And we're sure that you're not a Steve Rogers variant?"
"He would be so lucky." He said with a light hearted scoff as he held a finger up creating a soft ball sized sun at the tip.

"Stability is a bit of an illusion, isn't it? Even things I thought I knew aren't what they seemed. I feel a bit old to be this surprised."
"The only stability I've ever known is chaos." He was born into a world at war as an experiment, tossed into war as a weapon, buried as a relic, and brought back to be a savior. His life has been anything but stable.
"I'm sure it will be equally as challenging as this. Nothing ever is simple, is it?"
"Can't say it is." He replied lightly as memories of storming the camps and incinerating the Fuhrer ran through his mind. "But that's just life, isn't it?"
"I hear someone say the word annihilation the other day. We're not actually thinking it's anything like that, are we? That's a lot. I mean, this already was a lot. That's just a lot a lot. I don't want to be annihilated."
"You never know, but I don't think we're quite there yet." He replied offering a reassuring nod. "Besides, doing the impossible is what we do. That much hasn't changed since my powernap started, has it?"
Jessica knew what was coming next. A drink. Then another one. Anything to numb the torrent of feelings that threatened to overwhelm her. "You got a point, or are you just venting? I don't think I signed up to be your therapist."
"I don't suppose you did." He replied with a faint laugh. She was a spitfire, wasn't she? "Fortunately I'm not looking for one." What could a human do to help the psyche of a machine? He watched as she got to her next drink. "Rough day or rough life?"

"So, basically, it's another Tuesday, huh?"
His lips quirked into a small smirk.
"Yeah, something like that."
"I was dead and then I was alive." She might have died and been resurrected again after that, but it was hard to say. "I'm not nervous, but I would love to prefer if things didn't get as bloody again."
At this point, red was all Elektra knew. It was her undoing and her baptism. She was relearning how to differentiate herself from the trails of crimson she left in her wake.
"If I could process alcohol without starting a fire I'd have a drink for you." He joked but with a solemn tone. "I also would prefer to avoid more bloodshed." War and violence was nearly all Jim had ever known. The smell of burning flesh was seared into his mind after all the battles.
"only slightly." steve said, sincerely joking though his tone was dry. and then, "Grandpa?--son,--"
Before he could get started, from behind him the computer whirred back to life, speaking over him: 'playing darkside by grandson' the computer said. steve turned around and unplugged the damn thing, cutting off the music.
"If you don't watch it I'm gonna find whatever your version of this is." he held up the power cord, motioning to jimm.
A small chuckle escaped Jim's lips. "I don't think you have the patience. I have about a billion power cells, Steve. If you haven't the patience to figure out a computer I doubt you do for this." He joked as a smirk fought at the corners of his mouth.
"Are you going as stir crazy as I am?" He asked tapping his fingers on the table. "We just got started at making a difference back home and now we're here while things are doubtlessly getting worse there."
"When this thing gets as smart as you, then it can talk." sometimes he forgot jimm wasn't exactly your average human--not that it mattered, steve himself had been altered by a serum. half the people trapped here weren't what one might consider to be 'normal'. jimm closed the program with a simple command and steve sighed. "see, if it's so smart why do i have to be so specific?"
"Right right. Glad I'm still a bit better than a telephone." He chuckled to himself. "If you're so smart why do you need specific instructions on how to interact with it. Just figure it out grandpa." Steve was roughly 20 years older than Jim, so it still felt fitting to say.
"Nope." steve admitted. Suddenly a feminine voice came from the device and he started rapidly pressing a different button, trying to get it to go away. "--why does everything talk now?"
"Something wrong with technology talking?" Jim said looking over his glasses with a wry smile. "These the conversations you had behind my back?" He joked with a small chuckle before walking over towards his old comrade. "Close display." He said pressing the voice command button as the hologram closed. "Modern problems require modern solutions, Steve." He teased patting him on the shoulder before taking a seat across from him.

"Tell me about it--went from snail mail to holograms."
"Tell me about it." He said looking at the hologram somewhat impressed Steve turned it on. "You didn't do that on purpose, did you?"
"what, are you like a doctor or something? usually no one's offering."
"No, but my creator was." He said as he cleaned the wound with water and gauze. "This is going to hurt." He said before sterilizing the wound with alcohol. "The names Jim Hammond." He added as he began wrapping the wound. He couldn't get hurt in the same way humans could. He didn't have blood, organs, or even real nerves, but he made sure to learn from the medics in the war. You never knew when an ally could get hurt.
"just when you think you've got one problem under your belt, another one shows up."
"That is the way life works, isn't it." He responded with a nod at the mans pessimism. "Jim." He offered his name before extending a hand.
"i knew we were falling out of different realities left and right, but what's this about a different time period?"
"Oh yeah. I essentially went into what you'd call a sleep mode or energy saving mode not long after I killed Hitler."
"this is why i never come to time square--it always smells like urine and scammers keep trying to lure you into their shops."
"Good to know some things never change."

"Of course I'm having dreams. It's part of the whole clairvoyant thing. They're just not particularly helpful right now."
"Must be an awful inconvenience for you. Not much to do about it in the meantime." He paused momentarily. "What is it like to dream? I know that's a random question and perhaps asked awkwardly, but I've never experienced it myself."
"First I'm in a new time period and then I'm in a new reality. I'm nervous to find out what's coming next."
