Origami Tutorials

This is one of my favorite holiday origami boxes. It’s made from 3 square sheets of paper, the top being slightly smaller. Read more in my article. :)

Beside folding origami and maintaining my website, I study Japanese on my own. As I am doing that for already a few years, I thought I write up a short guide to what I think is useful. It’s basically split into several sections: digital study resources like apps and courses, Books, Manga and a description on how I made this Japanese flag crane. This week I folded these cute panda having fun. They are super easy to fold. By varying their final body position, you can make them sit, stand or crawl. If you want to know more about this design, follow the link.

This is my latest origami design, inspired by lily pads. It is an 18 sided origami twist box, folded from one sheet of paper. I included some instructions and crease pattern on my website, in case you like it.

This is my all time favorite origami unicorn model. It is not too simple, yet not too difficult for the regular folder as well. You should try it!

This box hides a few interesting facts. For one, even though the design looks very modern, it is in fact 27 years old. But this is not all, what makes this box so special. If you like it, you might want to read my article (link above).

Preview of my next article to be published on the weekend. This is a modular octagonal origami box, which is more or less an underground version of another box. More to that when I finish writing my article. All details are on origamitutorials.com.

This is my latest design, the King’s Crown Box. This box starts off from a 12 sided polygon and finishes off with a box of two heights, a direction change of pleats and a King’s Crown finish on the top. If you like it, you should follow the link as I provided two crease patterns to this design.

My latest design are these King’s Crown Origami Boxes. I am going to publish the crease pattern of one of the above boxes. If you have a favorite, please let me know. This is a great example of how you can display a whole scene including the sun, rays and snow-capped Mt. Fuji in the front. This is not an easy origami design, but well worth it if you really go for it. In my article I mentioned two sources for the diagram but also a link to a video tutorial by the author of the design.
