Sara stared across the table at Ava. She seemed different, almost sadder. It had been eight... no twelve years since they had seen each other. Their last mission together seemed like a lifetime ago. Their love even farther away than that. It was for the best though; they needed a break from each other. A break, yeah.... a year turned to five turned to ten, and now here they are, complete strangers. 

     Without Ray or Nate or Charlie around, the ship was too quiet. Ava still hadn’t spoken a word, and Sara couldn’t find the right words to say. “You never came back,” Ava said, almost nothing but a whisper, “You never called. You never wrote a letter. You never came back...” A tear rolled down her cheek before she roughly wiped it away with her sleeve.

     Sara sighed and spoke, “You didn’t either. I left the door open for you. It isn’t all my fault.”

    Ava scoffed, “Your fault? Everything was your fault. Now, everyone is gone, and I have no one!” She stood up and headed out the door.

     Sara couldn’t find the strength to move or speak as she watched the love of her life leave yet again. “You have me,” she choked out as Ava disappeared into the dreary, dark night.

As someone who has been on Tumblr for 5+ years, blogging is definitely an underrated form of writing. I've been writing for as long as I can remember, and Tumblr has always been a safe space to share my writing. I also think it has vastly improved the convenience for sharing one's work. Someone from the other side of the globe could be reading your writing with the click of a button with the help of the internet, of course.

My body no longer aches

as I toss and turn in bed,

and my hands no longer shake

as I try to type this letter. 

Life is....

beautiful,

magical,

a gift...

A gift that I can no longer bear.

However,

do not mourn for me.

Do not wish you were in my place.

Instead, 

look for me

 in the stars of the night sky, 

in smile of my children, 

in the letters I have written...

Look for me, 

The first penny is found the day after it happened. It rests on the pillow where he slept. I flip the coin over and over in my hand, searching for an explanation as to how it got there. No one was home. He is gone. Where did it come from? 1962. The irony isn’t lost on me because that was his birth year.  I smile sadly and put it into a jar. 

The next one comes a few months later; it finds its way into my shoe. Running late for work, I shove my dirty sneakers on to my feet and rush out the door. It isn’t until a few hours into my shift that the object in my shoe becomes bothersome. When I slip my show off, I laugh and glance up towards the sky. “Thanks.” I roll my eyes, shove the penny into my pocket, and return to work. A second penny is added to the jar.

Growing up, I was always the blonde haired and blue eyed little girl. Dresses, bows, shiny black shoes, pageants... My long, golden hair flowing past my shoulders as I pranced around in puffy pink dresses with scraped knees, bruises, and dirty nails. I hated it. All of it the dresses. The smell of hairspray. The awards for beauty. I was four.

High school was rough for everyone. My hair was a light, golden brown that settled well past the middle of my back. It was always pulled in a ponytail. No hairspray or bouncy curls, long gone the shiny golden blonde that it once was. I wanted to cut it, but my mother never allowed it shorter than past my shoulders. “But, it’s so pretty when it’s long,” she would say, and I would drop the subject. In its messy bun or ponytail it would stay.

Blue, purple, green, pink... my hair has been a plethora of colorful hues since I graduated high school. It was cut short, much shorter than my mother’s liking, but I loved it. It was my form of expression. I loved my purple hair, the way it was always out of my eyes, and I never had to worry about having a hair tie around my wrist. I miss my purple hair....

Lily and Hadley stare at each other in disbelief. Lily holds the key as Hadley holds the locked box.

“Hands,” Lily almost growls, “Give me the box, so I can save our lives.” Hadley glances at the large man as he watches them.

Me: What?

Courtney, repeating the question perfectly: 6? How did you get 6?

Me: Go to sleep.

C: No.

Me: Yes because you’re already asleep, and I have no idea what you’re talking about.
