“I need your half of the key,” said Fanor.
“Why would I give it to you? You want to use it to help the humans with the power of gods. They shouldn’t have it,” Ranor said sharply, “they don’t deserve it.”
Fanor, drawing his blade, starting approaching his brother.
“You will give it to me, or I’ll cut you down where you stand. We have to help them, nurture them, and protect them. They are a young race. They deserve that from us.”
“No! I will NOT bow down to humans! We are gods! We must be feared, worshiped, revered. Not come to their every call! I will put you down then destroy the humans!” bellowed Ranor.Â
This confrontation was expected. Fanor and Ranor haven’t seen eye-to-eye in nearly 2 millennia. After their youngest brother sided with Fanor, Ranor has been on a warpath to prevent humans from expanding and growing. Ranor will do anything to undermine his brother.
“Then it must be done. I will do what I must to protect them,” Fanor sighed. Fanor was faster, but Ranor was stronger. Ranor dodged the blade of Fanor and counterattacked with a solid hit to Fanor’s jaw.
“Stay out of my way, or you’ll get much worse,” Ranor stated, “this will not end well for you. I will send you to the Amaranthion Underworld where you can reflect on all of your poor choices.”
Fanor knew he couldn’t win on speed alone. He let his brother go, along with the other half of the key. There will be another opportunity. The fate of humans, elves, dwarves and even the gods, requires the key.
