DANA HERFURTH as ANNE OF CLEVES
WOLF HALL 2.05 (2024)
Bring Up the Bodies by Hilary Mantel / Hacks 4x08
Catherine Howard’s blue gown | Wolf Hall - The Mirror and the Light
Do you have any idea were the "anne boleyn fashion icon" claim started from? i want to write a disproval but no one ever sites a source which makes it difficult?
✨ terfs/zionists fuck off ✨
well, i wouldn't be the best to ask for anne's historiography. i have to assume it stems from brantôme, who claimed that while in france, anne "dressed with marvellous taste and devised new modes which were copied by all the fashionable ladies at court; but none wore them with her gracefulness, in which she rivalled venus". likewise, nicholas sanders claimed that once in england, "she was unrivalled in the gracefulness of her attire, and the fertility of her invention in devising new patterns, which were imitated by all the court belles, by whom she was regarded as the glass of fashion", and that "on her throat there was a protuberance […] this she carefully covered with an ornamented collar-band, a fashion which was blindly imitated by the rest of the maids of honour, though they had never before thought of wearing any thing of the kind". both written in the late sixteenth century... i think it's only logical to discredit these as unreliable sources from someone recalling an idea of anne. significantly, no french sources from her lifetime mentioned her, nor did english sources (including inventories, artistic depictions) corroborate a fashion trend of collars in the 1520s-1530s. brantôme's obvious exaggerated praise, and sanders' negative bias in his characterisation of anne, mean these are clearly not reliable sources.

tudors are honestly not even that interesting to me in terms of fucked up historical families/political spheres but almost all english-language media in the renaissance is about them so i’ve forgotten more about them than most people will ever learn lol
LILIT LESSER as Mary Tudor (Mary I of England) Wolf Hall: The Mirror and the Light (2024)
you can’t give lana del rey more than 50 all time classics
doffy's favourite: law vs the guys who've been donquixote pirates for literal decades
jealous law: if im gonna be with the future king of the pirates then i need to be chill with certain things
jealous luffy: i will send your suitors to the shadow realm 👹

My toxic fandom take is that I think that it's awful how much we can talk to creators and get answers from them word of god style. We should be out here in a godless place rooting for scraps of lore in the media like truffle pigs out in the fields
Gets sadder with every reread
modern trafalgar and donquixote family and they’re neighbors
sansa (x)
So, if they gave joncon's greyscale to show!jorah, this obviously means they gave yg's story to dany. #snowspearconfirmed

the eggbetha romcom novella that exists in my mind is so good btw. the plot doesn’t matter dunk is stuck dealing with some altercation at raventree hall, bloodraven is probably involved. egg is a marriage-aged teen at this point (so like. 16) and he starts off whining to dunk about how he doesn’t understand why the mere presence of a pretty woman can make dunk act so differently 🙄 smh can you keep it in your pants. dunk threatens to clout him in the ear, you know the drill. then they meet lord blackwood’s teen daughter and egg leaves that interaction looking like this emoji 😵💫 contemplating many things about himself he didn’t know up until that point and dunk is like “:/ man i think i don’t like this girl. she was kinda mean to you [clueless]” egg sighs wistfully “yeah…”. and it’s a whole thing because she’s a lady and he’s supposedly just some dirty little squire boy. egg gets so in character roleplaying this dynamic that at the end he’s like oh nooooo how will lord blackwood ever let me marry his daughter and someone has to remind him. then he’s like oh yeah. yayyy problem solved 👍 the end
egg has the opposite of jaime’s wench kink
another day getting into arguments on the weirwood net. everyone keeps asking me if they can eat of the flesh of man and mate as wolf with wolf. buddy, they wont even let me fuck the wolf
