“And yes, there are a lot of perks, and quite a 8it of treasure. On top of that, I tend to get a few free drinks whenever I’m ashore from people who wish to hear stories of my nautical exploits, and I haven’t even done anything all that dramatic yet.”

He had only bothered to show up in his normal garb - certainly not something befitting of the blueblood before him. Still, the look of awe never left his face, even as she paid him a compliment. In fact, it grew in admiration and pride. What Aranea called a series of unfortunate events, he only thought of it as her taking charge of her life. Even if the room wasn’t richly furnished, it was Aranea’s, and hers alone - a feat to be lauded, especially as this ship was liberated, as Aranea had put it.
“Mindfang? I suppose I should be calling you that in public now shouldn’t I?” His words had a tinge of amusement in them, as he thought on how it seemed to be something of a universal constant for Serkets to go with that name. He walked forward, eyes on Aranea before turning to the windows in the stern of the ship, watching the waves go by. “And how is the pirate’s life treating you now, Captain Mindfang?”Â
“Spineret would work just as well, 8ut yes, I would prefer to keep my hatchname as private as it can 8e after I only recently stopped using it.”
You join him in looking out the windows, still smiling.Â
“It’s treating me a lot 8etter than life in the Navy did. It’s far more exciting, and I’ve had to deal with less grimdark seadwellers and superior officers who want to throw me over8oard.”

It was all Jake could do to keep his mouth from hanging open in shock and awe. At first he had to do a double take - the jacket and hair had thrown him off, and he thought that perhaps he had gotten the coordinates wrong, that he had accidentally warped into a Mindfang’s cabin by mistake. As the spots faded, it was clear though that this was the Aranea he knew and enjoyed the company of.Â
“Yes it is.” He muttered the words under his breath as he took in the vision before him still - the coat and hair made her stand out as quite the confident and daring lass, even as her warm smile put him at ease. “Its an absolute pleasure to see you again.” Tearing his eyes away from her, he scans the cabin, taking it all in. He recalled making an offhand comment about taking a ship for herself and going the route of the renegade long ago when they first met - had she really gone through with it?Â
He certainly seems both surprised and impressed at your new look. You take a moment to enjoy his look of awe.Â
“I could very much say the same for you, Jake.”
The room isn’t all that richly furnished; there’s a desk in the center, a bookshelf, a recuperacoon with a lid to contain the sopor in case of choppy seas, a couch that seems like a recent addition, a pile of blankets in the corner, and a number of windows overlooking the sea in the back.Â
“So, after a quite unpleasant chain of events, I went rogue from the Imperial Navy and 8ecame a pirate under the name of Captain Spineret Mindfang.”

A deep breath to steady the nerves, and a step through the transportalizer, and Jake found himself in Aranea’s cabin, blinking away the spots in his eyes from the bright flash of his transport. “Aranea?”
As Jake arrives, you’re standing in front of your desk, fiddling with your hair. It’s grown longer and wilder since you last spoke to Jake. Furthermore, you’re wearing the distinctive, blue and black coat you had made after you went rogue: one that might be recognizable for those familiar with some of your alternates.Â

The presidential primary in New York is still on April 19th.
NYC followers: the Board of Elections sent out “correction” postcards to new voters (AKA Bernie voters) saying the primary is in September. It’s still April 19. You should still vote. In fact, bring two friends who weren’t going to vote as a “fuck you” to the people who were trying to trick young people out of voting in the first place.
This election is getting dirtier and more disgusting every time I turn around and the primaries aren’t even over yet.
