HAJAHS so my current comics from hey arnold are from an au were teen Helga and Arnold are dating and little situations they'd have to gone through together- but this comic is a closer version to the original "The patakis" version from the pitch! HAJHS It's still pretty fanfiction like but this would be my season final for the first season HAHAHAH (It's still a work in progress but I wanna be mean mean mean JAHAHSHD AAA)

ALSO- A little headcanon that I might or might not develop cause I think it'd be sad but also interesting and on my experience could be very real.

#thepatakisweek Day 4, posted on Day 5 after I said I didn’t want to fall behind ☠️

I knew I needed to be on point for this one because it’s ARNOLD’S ROOM!!

My idea for this one is bouncing off of the last prompt, where Arnold and Helga have been spending a lot of time together at their summer job, he finally invites her out on what feels like a date. Nervous, she consults Phoebe on how she should dress and they do some internet shopping. When the clothes come in, they don’t look the same on her as they do on the model but it’s too late to get another outfit so she commits. Once again, she’s attempting to dress like someone else to impress Arnold, who is stunned when he first sees her. People are paying a lot of attention to Helga, which she isn’t used to and is making her more uncomfortable in the outfit. Arnold takes notice and asks her if she’d rather leave, so they head to his house, little do they know that their voyeurs are also in hot pursuit and with a plan - Sid is going to bluetooth connect to Arnold’s devices and scare them with loud music when they’re about to kiss… and it will be live on the internet for the whole neighborhood to see.

Yes, that’s Abner! I imagine he’ll grow into a hefty fella after a few years living at the boarding house. Really enjoyed using the lighting filters on Procreate, I’d like to think that Arnold is cool enough to have the college dorm special LED colored lights and set them to pink because it’s Helga’s favorite color 🥰 I also heard that Helga still wears her pink bow under her beanie, which is another aspect of this picture - Helga trying to grow up too fast but secretly not being ready, she wears a lot of disguises and I feel like it’s a relatable situation for both teen girls and even adult women.

Anyway, it’s an open ending because Arnold’s wires don’t necessarily connect to his computer, so what do you all think?

Should Sid be successful and sabotage their romance?

Or should the whole pan be foiled because Arnold isn’t even using that device?

It's being a while since I drew this two, I came back (a little late) for The Patakis Week on "Summer job" day. I imagine Helga and Arnold getting a job as safeguard (does safeguard is a paid job? idk) in the public beach just for Helga to be fired after making cry some kids with her water gun Nerf.

Good thing she found a new job near the beach lol

Helga stood at the bridge looking into the water and smiled at the memories her and Around shared on this very same bridge. She squeezed her locket in her hand tighter trying not to cry. As she fought to keep back her tears she could hear running footsteps and panting and she smiled and her tears dried instantly.

Arnold runs up to Helga panting

“Sorry, I’m late Helga” Arnold was holding a beautiful wrapped box with Helga’s name written on it

“Oh, it’s okay, I was completely zoned out anyway, I almost forget you were coming” Helga nervously laughs

Arnold stared at her for a moment and smiled

“ you know that you don’t have to hide your feelings with ME.

Arnold face saddens and he gently grabs her hand

I got to know you, the REAL you and I’m really happy that you trusted me enough to let your guard down with me and…..I just really don’t want you to change that since I’m moving…you just mean a lot to me Helga.”

Helga tried her best to hold back her tears but could not hold back. Since admitting her feelings for Arnold TO Arnold. She’s been so genuinely happy she was able to ignore her problems at home when she was with him what would she do now?

Arnold embraced Helga in a hug without saying a word

“I promise, I’ll still always be here for you, you don’t have to force yourself to deal with so much alone” Arnold pulled back from the hug and finally hands her the gift

Helga smiled and grabs the beautifully wrapped box

“Go ahead, open it” Arnold smiled

Helga carefully pulled the ribbon and removed the lid before looking into the box to see two beautiful lockets, a small pair of scissors and an old Polaroid camera

Arnold grabbed the camera and stood by Helga and held her close and smiled widely

Causing Helga to smile before he took two pictures

“Ha! Got you to smile for two! That’s a new record” Arnold grinned at Helga before grabbing the scissors

Helga stomach fluttered with butterflies as she watched Arnold set up the lockets

“Alright! Done!” Arnold hands Helga one of the lockets

Helga opens the locket and smiles with tears in her eyes again looking at the two of them.

“I gotta admit, I’m gonna miss you football head”

Arnold smiled back “I can’t believe I’m gonna miss hearing you call me that”

They both laughed

“Im really gonna miss you too Helga” he says while looking down at his locket then back at Helga

They stared in each others eyes before they kissed

Headlights start to illuminate them as Arnolds parents car came up the bridge.

Helga face dropped again and she looked at Arnold.

I’m always a call away, and when I come to visit we’ll have Chez Paris, he said while kissing her hand and giving her a wink

Helga turned red and laughed nervously

“Au Revoir, Arnold” she replied sadly as she watched him slowly back up and start walking towards the car taking one more look at Helga before getting in.

Helga watched as the car drove over the bridge and out of sight before looking back down at her new locket.

She opened it again and realized it was engraved Helga smiled

DAY 6 - Making up / Jealousy

#thepatakisweek day 2 (I’m late whoopsie) - word prompt: Closet 🍬🚪

One of the things that always bugged me when watching Hey Arnold! was one of Helga’s main… “romantic” outlets, one of the few objects she could proclaim her secret love: the famous(and kinda creepy) ”Arnold gumhead”

As shown in “The Patakis” mini-Bible spin off, Helga would have gotten a scholarship at a very prestigious school due her creative art projects, that being photography, creative writing pieces and so on, as much as I’m thankful she got a ~healthier~ way to let her emotions out, I’d love to see what happened to her “Arnold collection” on #thepatakis .

In this piece, I imagined Helga deciding to throw everything “embarrassing” or “Arnold-related” away before emerging herself into writing her application letter (And therefore a “new Helga”) everything but- the Gum-Arnold and Her beloved locket (next fanart will be about so said locket!).

For young Helga, that closet was her safe heaven, from her family, from school, from the facade she created for herself, from everything. There, she could finally let go and be herself, before her final act, she locks herself once again in her closet and writes precisely the piece that settled the deal for her scholarship. Giving a proper beginning for Helga’s journey exploring her feelings more openly, while simultaneously a proper ending to young Helga’s dedication to her first love.

The Patakis Week Day 2: Summer Job.

When you've been trying not to let old feelings resurface now that your ex-bf is finally back after years away and a bad break up but he's got the Audacity to say things like that.

God you hate him. And yet- no no NO NO NO!!!

I'm in the 'there are times when Arnold can be a lil shit and it's hilarious' camp. Anyway, they're friends, Arnold's the main one pining while Helga's trying not to slip back into her old ways bc she promised herself after being hurt last time etc etc. I just like pining Arnold and conflicted Helga lol Don't worry they both sort it out in college and are happy.

The Patakis Week Day 2!

I’m honestly so proud of this one, I just finished it today so I can post it in time. (I really don’t wanna fall behind like Inktober ☠️)

Following the prompts, here is the scenario:

Arnold and Helga are volunteering at PS 118 for their summer program that is essentially just a glorified baby sitting gig, which is why they’re letting high schoolers do it in the first place. We all know why Helga took the job, and it has nothing to do with kids. So when a young student in her cluster, Daisy May*, becomes overly attached, Helga exploits Daisy’s love of pudding. Arnold has been watching Helga too, and notices that she’s up to her old tricks. “You can’t just sit the kid in a corner with a pudding cup, how is she going to learn?”

“That’s how Bob did it and I turned out fine”

“Okay Helga, just be big enough to clean the mess”

*Fun fact: Daisy May is the name of the love interest in Lil Abner, where Arnold’s pet pig gets his namesake. Daisy May pursues the main character even though he shows no interest. It’s a Helga-ception.(credit to my bf for that)

One thing that I LOVE about Helga is her tenacity to break the rules (law😝) for the sake of her personal mission. Since it’s just a blurb for a picture, I didn’t get too detailed with the plot but I’d like to think that Helga was getting up to something Football related 😏

I wanted her face to look frustrated for being caught out, but also totally elated that Arnold was paying attention to her 😍

Since I’m using my Tumblr as more of an “art diary”, I’d like to include some more info behind what went into this piece:

Much like Inktober, I’m using this challenge to learn more about Procreate, experiment with brushes and figure out what’s “right” for me.

To be frank, it has been a mildly frustrating experience internally because I already know that my weakness is color. Digital painting and traditional are just not the same, they don’t work the same (to me anyway). The interface of Procreate is so different from Photoshop too, finding and remembering to use tools isn’t a simple transition, either. It makes me self conscious of my art, even though I’ve gone to art school, and it throws me off to have to stop and Google stuff. But! I think with this piece, I’m FINALLY in a good groove of how I want my art to look and how to get there.

TLDR; I cry bc the lesson I refuse to learn is that you never stop learning 🙃
