   carol walks along the forest floor, her combat boots    following one after another and her knife is in hand.    she'd been walking for what seemed like HOURS,    her legs stretching to walk even an inch further, but    she continued on. she needed to find somewhere at    least remotely safe to stay for the night. the sun was    setting and the humidity caused her hair to stick to her    skin. when she hears rustling in the bushes, followed by    a figure emerging. she stops for a moment and studies    him, not sure what to think.

        { ♜ } “BEHIND YOU!”

        [ He knows he shouldn’t yell - the loud sound will           just attract more zombies - but it’s an automatic           reaction. His natural response to someone being           unaware of impending danger was to alert them.           But it soon proves to have been unnecessary, as           he soon realizes the woman in front of him might           not be able to get away in time. So, as quickly as           possible, he takes a step and reaches forward,           grabbing the woman’s wrist and quickly pulling           her out of the way. It proves effective enough for           the moment, and with a quick glance to his surroundings,           he realizes the one zombie was not the only one. ]

        { ♜ } “We need to move."

            ( eyes are oblivious as to the danger behind her               and she doesn't seem to realize the other living               person near her, as well. carol's eyes shoot up,               behind her first, rather than to the sight of the                voice of the person who had called her name and               she struggles to grasp at her knife and pull it out               to take down the undead. it proves too late as ca-               rol is afraid the dead will take her down with her but               at the last minute, she feels her wrist grabbed and she's               pulled out of dangers way -- at least for NOW. the silver               haired woman nods before running in the other direction,               making sure the stranger was with her. ) 

   she stands in the middle of the field,    observing her surroundings and squint-    ing against the sun, feeling the SCORCHING    heat against her clothed back is somewhat of    a normality now, along with the dead roaming    the earth, the faint rumble of hunger and always    lingering fatigue. the back of her hand ran along    her forehead before she turned to face the other.    they'd been out here longer than expected, a run    gone sour when their vehicle had decided to die    on them and now, here they were, baskets full of    supplies and only a little bit of an idea how to get    back to ALEXANDRIA. 

   carol had gathered a routine at the prison ever since    judith had been born. she woke up and strapped her    knife in before heading out of the cell. usually the first    one awake ( other than whoever was on watch, of cou-    rse ), she'd make breakfast before dismissing whoever    had stayed up since three that morning till whenever she    had gotten there off watch, filling in their place for the next    couple of hours or so. then, she moved on to cleaning wea-    pons and making sure everyone was feeling good -- or at    least as good as they could. and now, she was towards the    end of her own planned list ; walking into Lori's cell, she smiles    at her friend and the small child. 

           but the fire is COMING

     frightened, the girl puts      her hands up after rightfully placing      her firearm in the front pocket of her      once-white, now-brown with dirt, cardigan.      she doesn’t want trouble, no, not when      martha isn’t around to cover her back.

     ( even then, martha isn’t that good. )

     ❝ you okay?! i—i’m sorry!! ❞ the seventeen      year old takes a step back.

carol doesn't plan on harming this girl in the slightest. her main concern is how LOUD she's being and the unwanted attention that'll bring to the two here. she looks  filthy, but don't they all nowadays ??
