XMEN AU 1

Chad:

Has Angel’s powers: angel-like wings. Feathers and everything. And they work.  

He got them, like, really early…and his dad hated it. He got pulled out of school and essentially placed under house arrest.

They tried literally everything. “Miracle” cures, praying, hiding them. Chad got to the point where he was trying to cut them off- he chickened out, but he thinks about it a lot.

(He thought they were really cool when he first got them. Gorgeous, even. It took a few days for that feeling to fade and it didn’t come back.)

Ella tried to best to keep Chad safe, but the thing about being a millionaire’s trophy wife is that you have minimal power, and no one questions your husband’s erratic methods of raising a child. Child services don’t investigate why your son hasn’t left the house in years.

Chad ran away at 16. He suspects his father had written him out of the will before that, anyway.

(Because- Chad had always liked boys more than he liked girls. And he was already a mutant. What must his father have thought?)

He gets picked up by the school while he’s running, because he’s noticeable. He’s got these giant wings and for the first time in years they aren’t cramped, they’re open and they’re practically emitting light.

(He gets found before he tries to fly. Which is a very good thing. While he masters his wings enough to fly later, that initial time he wouldn’t have been able to because he had never used his wings like that before. They were terribly unkempt.)

School is a totally different environment for him, he starts to hate himself less, he’s no longer afraid to come out.

(He’s still afraid of his father, though. There’s not a thing money can’t buy, and Chad is afraid of what that might mean for him. Not that he thinks his father wants him back- but maybe, out of spite?)

XMEN AU 1

Carlos:

 has Rogue’s powers except more intense and more angsty: if his skin makes contact someone, there’s like a 99% chance they’ll die. If they die, he absorbs their powers, strength, and/or physical attributes. 

 In the low chance that the person survives, he still takes something from them.  

Major example: his mother. His powers surfaced while they were touching, and he didn’t kill her because his powers were still weak, but she was still left in a weakened mental state that affects her to present day.

(It’s why he has white streaks in his hair. He took that from her.) 

Carlos feels guilty about every single person he’s accidentally hurt - especially his mom. He stopped going to school, tried to kill himself multiple times. 

He stopped because he always woke up. Someone always found him, and would try to help him, unknowingly sealing their own fate. 

He got picked up by Xavier’s School of Mutants because he tracked them down. He figured he was too dangerous for society. 

(He makes sure his mom has a safe place to stay. He can’t visit her too much, he feels too guilty.) 

He wears leather, tries not to let any of his skin show besides his face. 

He’s sent out on missions for the principle of the thing: he’s not really allowed to touch villains (nor does he want to) but sometimes the threat of his presence causes surrender. 

He’s one of the leading researchers for “curing” the x-gene. He doesn’t want to eradicate mutants, not at all, but he doesn’t want to live as one.
