I’ve waited a bit to talk about this topic because not only have I never astral projected before, but I’m still learning more about the entire term and experience. But still, it’s something I think we should all talk about more so here it is!

First, for you to be able to even wrap your mind around this concept you have to understand something: your physical body is not all there is. You are your consciousness, you are a spiritual being, and your physical body is only a temporary inhabitance for you. It is not all that you are, it’s just your physical container. 

Astral projection is what happens when you, the consciousness/spirit/soul reading this, leave your physical body and travel to other places, whether it be on Earth, other planets, or different dimensions entirely. It literally means that your consciousness is projecting itself in the astral realms. 

Everyone’s astral projection experience is different, but usually people at first notice that they are floating above their bodies. They can see their body lying fast asleep on their bed, or wherever they are sleeping. They can also notice a white/glowing cord attaching their body to themselves, kind of like an umbilical cord. 

Now that you’ve left your physical body behind, you’re functioning in a higher (4th) dimension. You’ve ditched third-dimensional reality. In higher dimensions, your higher frequency makes things look more defined, more beautiful. Things around you in astral projection appear very beautiful. 

The key to astral projection (AP) is to remain calm. Being relaxed is essential; if you become fearful of what’s happening, the experience is immediately over. 

Having out-of-body experiences like these isn’t a “dream”, it actually happens. When you are astral projecting, you can think of someone and visit them immediately. If you’ve ever heard someone say “meet me in the astral realm”, they’re referencing the fact that you can go to someone while APing, in real time. You both can astral project and meet each other wherever you choose, because anything you want to happen can be manifested. 

AP can happen unexpectedly or on purpose. You can be dreaming and then suddenly become conscious in your dream. You can not be having a dream, just regular sleep, and then it can happen as well. However, a lot of people have been able to intentionally astral project. 

We all astral project some nights without even realizing it. Your soul can leave your body without you knowing, so take a moment to imagine where you’ve been while your physical body was asleep!

Like I said earlier, the astral realm is a different dimension. Our senses are heightened, which is why things look/sound much more beautiful and why our thoughts instantly become reality.

Astral projection can bring many epiphanies. You can be able to recall past lives, your purpose for being in this life, or even see things into the future. You can also meet your spirit guides/angels and speak to them, or deceased loved ones as well!

FAQ ABOUT AP: 

Can I get stuck in the astral realm? No! The white/glowing cord connecting your consciousness to your physical body makes sure you come back. The only way that connection can break is if you die, essentially. 

What’s the difference between astral projection and dreams? When we dream, our physical body rests as it has to while our consciousness creates its experiences. A lot of the time dreams are hazy, we don’t completely remember them. When we dream, we’re functioning in a lower state of consciousness, vibrating at a lower frequency, than when we’re AP’ing. 

Can I meet evil spirits in the astral realm? There is a state of the astral that is very negative and hellish. Nothing can really harm you, because you’re creating your own reality. You can end it at any time. Don’t expect these things to happen, because giving it thought is giving it energy, thus giving it life!

Hey! Indigo Poets is a poetry network where people who write poetry can connect with others, learn, and share their work. We are looking for administrators to help us run things. Keep reading to see if there’s anything you can help out with!

General Co-Manager - The co-manager will be sharing all of my responsibilities. They will help me make sure the other admins are doing their jobs, help me pick the best poetry submissions, help me manage the Poetry Triangles and Poetry Slam, help me make Muse posts almost daily (Muse posts are when we post a picture, quote, song or word and tell our followers to write a poem about it and tag #indigopoetsmuse). They’re going to help me run everything, in a nutshell.

Music Manager - The music manager will use Soundcloud or Spotify to make music playlists for poets. They will also be partially in charge of what songs we use for our Muse posts.

General Journalists - The general journalist will post news on our Tumblr page. They can write about anything, from op-eds to politics. They will be responsible for reporting about current events of all kinds, both within the US and international.

The Advertiser - The advertiser is responsible for spreading the word about Indigo Poets. They will print out posters to put up around their neighborhood and school, they will tell their followers on social media about us, they will reach out to writers and ask them to join/promote us.

Graphics Designer - The graphics designer is responsible for being on-call when we need flyers/posters made for anything. They just need to have experience in graphics design and examples of their work.

Poetry Spy - The poetry spy will be responsible for sharing the poetry of famous poets on our blog. Many people can hold this position, because we will be doing Poem of the Day (#POTD) posts. The poem of the day won’t have to be posted daily, but at least every two days. The Poetry Spies, when they post their #POTD, can even give a little background of why they like the poem or what the poem means to them, and they should always close with the question ‘What does this poem mean to you?’ or ‘What do you think?’.

Social Media Manager - The social media manager is responsible for the creation and maintenance of the Indigo Poets’ Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and more.

You probably know me from Indigo Scribes and Indigo School. The next installment of the Indigo Branch networks is here: Indigo Poets! Just like the others, Indigo Poets is a network/family where people who enjoy writing poetry can come together, talk, meet each other, share their poetry, and learn more about their passion. 

If you enjoy writing poetry, this is the place for you. The pages on our blog all explain what we are and what we do. But in a nutshell, you will:  

- submit your poetry to be shared with all of our followers

- submit videos of you reciting/performing your poetry to be shared with all of our followers 

- join monthly poetry groups where you share your poetry with two other people and then write a group poem with them

- have access to “muse” posts where we post inspiring pictures, quotes, and words to spark inspiration

- meet up with other poets in your city to make friends and share poetry

- join poetry clubs to socialize with other poets

If you’re reading this, I started a mystery school and there are 100 people in it!

Indigo School started on July 9th, 2015. Today is August 22, and now there are one-hundred of you. I can’t really describe how surreal this is, how it feels knowing that you’ve united 100 people across the world. 

By this time next year, I hope we have over 1,000.

…for critique groups!

Last month, you all gave me AMAZING responses to the critique groups. Some people said they’d even continue working privately together to critique each other’s work and prepare for publishing! I’m amazed that things went so well. 

I gave all the Indigo Scribes two options: one, we start the critique groups up again for September, or two, we start the book club for the first time. More people chose the critique groups, so that’s what we will do. Next month we’ll do the book clubs!

So, about the critique groups. 

First of all, PLEASE go to this page to read more about the critique groups! It explains how things work and will generally answer all of your questions. 

Once you’ve read about the critique groups, go to our ask page and say ‘critique group request’. 

After you request, you will be placed on a list. Wait until the first of September. 

On September 1st, I will announce the critique groups! Then you can go introduce yourself to your fellow critique group members and start getting to work. 

NOTES: 

1. Critique groups will now be chosen randomly instead of in order of who requested first. 

2. Soon, Indigo Scribes will have a page up called Students where all of your application forms will be posted! You can go there to read about the other Scribes and visit their Tumblr pages so that you are well acquainted with who they are in case you’re in a group with them. 

3. You can start joining the book club now! Just go to our ask page and say ‘I would like to join the book club’. The book club will start in October. 

4. You cannot be in the critique groups or the book club if you haven’t already joined the Indigo Scribes.
