Having recently begun reading about "minimalism", I’ve come across the idea of “acquiring experiences and not things”. What do I want to do and experience now and what do I wish to leave behind when I exit this world? I'm very happy with our children and what they've become. I want to continue to strive for and renew the good marriage that forms the bedrock of our family for the long term. I want to be remembered for intelligence, fun and creativity when I'm gone.
I’ve decided to create a list of accomplishments to achieve before the end of the year 2020 - essentially 5 years from now. Accomplishing them all would be phenomenal but working diligently toward them all is the real objective. They will give me a reason to get out of bed with enthusiasm for the day.Â
Where possible I’ve tried to avoid acquisition of things as well as (what I’d term) the frivolously personal experiences and self-promotion that seem to dominate many published bucket lists. Although I sincerely hope to survive past 2020, I’ll playfully describe these goals as my list to achieve before I “go on the cart”.
