This has been on my mind for long but Iâm gonna do this - please reblog this if youâre comfortable with pre-establishing relationships. I do not mean âmet at the grocery store two weeks agoâ or âhave a common friendâ, but rather stuff like âhave been best friends since kindergrdenâ, âgo for a beer every fridayâ, âfriends with benefitsâ, âdated in highschoolâ, âhate each otherâs guts because -insert reason-â  etc. Something meaningful (but not necessarily shippy) and I mean with muns/characters you have not interacted with, because I cannot believe I am the only one who prefers jumping right into the heart of the human interaction.

what is it? canât you tell me now?
detransition, baby.
âmr. barnes is a client, captain rogers. as personal as i know this is, unless he waives privilege, i canât share anything he said in confidence. not with you, not with anyone.â
matt offers what he hopes is a sympathetic look, and one significantly less tense than he feels. steve rogers has a reputation as an honorable man â of course he does, he has a reputation as the honorable man â but running the risk of crossing captain fucking america is. well. pressure, to say the least.
âif you want to know anything about mr. barnesâ case, youâre going to have to hear it from him.â

detransition, baby: pt. 2.
dialogue prompts from detransition, baby by torrey peters. (some have been paraphrased for accessibility.)
we might as well talk about it.
everything about being a parent feels like a secret test.
that was a thoughtless thing to blurt out.
can i ask you something directly?
you and i just come from very different places.
maybe i wasnât that kind to you.
what is it? canât you tell me now?
i donât want to get my hopes up.
i want to be a milf, but a subtle milf, you know?
itâs okay to have doubts.
i donât have doubts. i know what i want.
that sounds very dramatic. very romantic.
signs are meant to be read â be careful what you put on them.
listening to that dickbag is a form of self-harm.
all pain merits care.
depends on whether or not you can find a place for yourself.
i want to figure out how to be something to you. with you.
maybe try recognizing the chances you have.
jealousyâs like a hangover: when youâre in the midst of it you wanna die, but nobody feels sorry for you.
put the phone away. donât look at it.
donât go. please.
youâre the one who wasnât here.
stop debating the philosophy of family and get to work making one.
iâd be glad if you told me everything.
iâm so happy to be here with you.
that much giggling was totally purifying.
i was a little worried how youâd take it.
itâs a dumb affair. people have them.
do you think you could give me some space for a few minutes?
donât panic. donât rush to fix everything.
just use a little goddamn discretion and it will be fine.
iâll change when itâs worth it for me to change.
i canât say i get you emotionally, but iâm trying to understand intellectually.
sometimes your body knows what your mind doesnât.
just sleep over, okay?
i drove here. i can give you a ride.
this is humiliating, but iâm glad to see you.
will you please give me a hug?
i wanted the good parts without the hard parts.
iâve been so afraid to call.
you can always find the politics to justify what you want.
i remember my own bullshit, thank you very much.
iâm much more culturally relevant and funny than you.
missionary so we can continue our argument from before

Mahmoud Darwish, from Unfortunately, It Was Paradise: Selected Poems; âThe Night There,â (edited)
batman.â
@onlygod // contâd.Â
â do you, now? âÂ
the devil of hellâs kitchen lives up to the reputation the bulletin has ascribed to him. if bruce didnât know better, heâd think his own reputation had stayed in gotham, that heâd come to hellâs kitchen an entirely new man. the way his brow raises is impossible to notice under the cowl, the whites of the cowlâs eyes blinking once.Â
remembers his rules, for the league - stupid ones, but ones that have been respected. there are villains in his city that are off limits. most of gotham is off-limits. new yorkers seem as territorial as gothamites. almost. of all the cities in the country, bruce hates new york the most of them all, heâs sure. thatâs likely the gotham city in him too, and by all means, the two cities arenât terribly different.Â
it hadnât exactly been his choice to come out here tonight, either, which means heâs going to give. an inch, at most, but itâs something.
he withdraws a syringe from his utility belt, takes a knee beside their unconscious suspect. his shoulder throbs with each movement, his rotators cuff almost gone if not already torn. with the empty syringe, he takes a sample of blood and with another, injects a sedative nearby in order to feel comfortable enough to restrain their suspect properly.Â
thatâs when he takes a step back to stand, finally acknowledges him with a gaze that sizes him up properly. although heâs smaller than him, bruce knows better than to underestimate him, especially after that display. heâs good at this, not to mention heâs younger, faster. a challenge, thatâs all.Â
â i appreciate the help, â he says in a way that characteristically doesnât sound appreciative whatsoever, â but after tonight, this wonât concern you. â
âthatâs not your call,â matt snaps back, hackles already raised at the dismissal. batman has the kind of gruff arrogance thatâd pique his interest in the right kind of bar but sets his teeth on edge in the mask, as much as he doesnât want this to turn hostile unnecessarily. ânot in hellâs kitchen. i donât know or care how things work in gotham; this is my city. you start shit here, you play by my rules.â
he turns, as if actually looking, to the 350-odd pounds of pure muscle batmanâs just injected with what matt can only assume, by the smell and the way the unconscious mookâs breathing depresses even further after a few moments, was a strong enough tranquilizer to take out a raging bull. he reeks of chemicals already, something strange and almost vegetal that clings to the back of mattâs throat. heâs never smelled it before, not on any junkies, not even on the sick bastards who mess around with MGH, and the strength â and physique â of batmanâs target clearly wasnât natural.
âwhatever this guy took that did this to him, i need to make sure it doesnât happen to anyone else. donât think i canât make you regret it if you decide to make that harder than it has to be.â
