Day 306 of drawing Princess Luna
I forgot to post this drawing because I hate it
A new tomorrow by Nnalyart
Day 305 of drawing Princess Luna
At Target this lady told her son he couldn’t have a Wonder Woman doll because “that’s for girls” and then bought her daughter the same one. It got me thinking about how often I see people bar young boys from appreciating girls/women as protagonists and heroes, and my own experience with it as a kid.

Imagine turning a corner and meeting him ❤️you’d feel like you were placing a hand on the heartbeat of the earth
so many misguided metaphors around violence and desire. if the open maw of a panting beast fills you with the want to be devoured, that does not make you prey. while the rabbit trembles in fear, its deepest desire is to run. evolution demands it. in fact, the desire to be eaten does not make you any small animal at all.
it makes you a fruit.
did tumblr delete my post
yeah, they did. I wrote up a big long post about the Trevor Project and the 12 hour charity livestream I'm participating in right now, and they deleted it. twice. We've raised over $50,000 for a legitimate charity but because it helps trans kids it gets deleted from the site
please share this if you can. so many amazing people have come together to make this happen.
if I make these links clickable they'll get deleted so please copy and paste them:

what the pony
before we start posting that july is gay wrath month let’s consider that july is disability pride month first and foremost. the “be gay do crimes” memes can wait
before this post breaches containment and people start going “why not both hehehe” i want you to seriously consider the very long history of disabled people’s existence being pushed aside and/or seen as secondary. i promise you it’s not going to hurt to hold onto the memes and give disabled people space for visibility and celebration.
i say this as a disabled trans person whose trans identity is made front-and-center to the (mainly cis) people who know i’m trans but my identity as a disabled person is brushed off by the very same people.

"Faeries are supposed to be horrific and terrifying!"
Hey. I want you to stop and think this through for a little second. Ask yourself:
Does the idea that the faeries are always out to get you by any means possible genuinely sound like something pre-Christian animists would have come up with?
Or does it sound an awful lot like Christian teachings that any spirit that isn't God or from God is out to get you by any means possible?
This isn't to say that pre-Christian people didn't believe in or tell stories about dangerous entities. Certainly they did. But when you're treating everything as if it's functionally a demon in terms of malice and predatory intent, you're projecting Christianity.
As I see it what the fae aught to be is otherwordly, as they're very much seperate from humanity.
Fae can be wonderful and terrible all at once, because they have a different understanding of these words.
In changeling the dreaming you are a being caught between these worlds, both faerie and human, more and less than the sum of your parts.
In the lost you're still of the two worlds but the fae part of you was forced upon you. As one of the lost you experience the worst pieces of the fae, while the kithain have a more balanced view.
And for that more balanced and "fair" view of faerie I do prefer changeling the dreaming, even if the horror of the lost is also very nice
"Faeries should be otherworldly" and "faeries are separate from humanity" are two more modern ideas at odds with pre-Christian animist worldviews. Other-than-human people were typically thought to be inhabitants of this world, and in certain cases, beings we might classify as faeries or fae-like were also spirits of the human dead.
For CTD, I think it's useful to consider animist perspectives in the context of the pre- and post-Shattering world. After all, the gamebooks say that pre-Shattering, there wasn't a distinction between the mortal world and the faerie world - they were the same.
For the post-Shattering world, I think it's worth asking questions like these:
Do they look otherworldly, or have we Othered them?
Did they always look like this? If not, when did they start?
How have our changing perceptions of what fae are changed them?
For CTL, I think it's worth thinking about in regard to the hobgoblins, which are functionally just regular everyday faeries. Now according to the game, hobs can't actually stay outside of the Hedge for any length of time, so unless you make an executive decision to chuck that out you really do have creatures that are simply not part of this world. But you can also ask yourself how much you really want to lean into them being scary predators for the sake of being scary predators, and how much you'd rather lean into them being littol creachurs (or bigge creachurs) who may at times be quite inconvenient to the PCs because they have their own priorities and their own moral frameworks around managing those priorities. And you can put more thought into what their other-than-human moral frameworks might reasonably be, rather than just tossing out something completely random.
