“Maybe when you got yourself mixed up with the Mikaelsons to begin with. There’s a rumor going around that you took the plunge and let one of ‘em sire you but you wouldn’t be that stupid, right? A girl like you with all that baggage and blood lust. The last thing you’d ever do is give yourself a humanity switch you can just turn off whenever you want. In a city full of innocent people. So you can see how this is definitely my business.”

“Oh yeah?” He asks casually but he’s definitely a little interested in what might make Elijah take a special trip out to shoot the shit, “Nothing different. Water’s been quiet. If it’s too quiet, it’s too early to tell.”

“My guys? Uh-uh, no. My guys don’t move without my say so and they’re all accounted for.” Marcel crosses his arms and looks Buffy up and down. She’s got bigger cajones than most of the male hunters he knows but unlike the hunters, Buffy’s got the good to back it up. Still, he’s intrigued, “Ambush a vampire slayer. Who’s got that kinda death wish? Call me old-fashioned but I don’t pick fights I can’t win.” Nor does he send his guys out to get themselves killed like that, “And you’re sure your new boyfriend’s got nothing to do with this?”

“This war between Klaus and Elijah... you’re not gonna fix it. It’s been brewing for centuries, Rebekah and all you’re gonna do by getting in their way is end up with a dagger in your heart. Maybe that’s not something I wanna watch you go through again. Be smart. They can’t kill each other, all they can do is fight until one of them gets tired. That’s the way it’s always been. He’s using her to get at Kol but I don’t know where she is or if she’s even still alive so let’s figure out how to get her away from your brother first, then we can work on the family feud.”
