Then NASA receives a signal. It's a recording of human voice! The fuck?! Ryland Grace cannot be alive this long, and it doesn't sound like him. Aliens speak English?? Strangely accented, but English nonetheless!!

"Hello Earth. This is Captain Simon Grace speaking, aboard scientific vessel Eden. We come in peace so don't blow us up! We travelled from Tau Ceti for the purpose of scientific exchange with the Earthlings...

You know how scared Simon would be to see humans again?? Actual Earth humans??? Before Grace he had Eden and Eden was HORRIBLE to him. Then he GROWS UP completely on Erid. Presumably he is his age the movie at this point, around mid 30s.

People are gonna be swarming him with questions. They’re going to want to know everything. Simon’s gonna be attached at the hip with Rocky and whatever other eridians came along with him.

He’s gonna see all the statues of Grace and all the things named after him. He’s gonna see his old school and probably an exhibit in a MUSEUM of him.

He’s gonna be terrified of seeing all these humans SO MANY HUMANS more than he’s ever seen in his entire life. He’s going to be walking with gravity completely different than what he is used to and see all sorts of trees and plants and nature he’s never seen before. He’s gonna see the sky stretch endlessly and never find an END to how much he could walk.
