My first week of Artfight attacks!

hi, so i absolutely love The Wind's Promise, and as such wanted to draw Betani for artfight. Well, now that artfight is approaching again, I finally finished it. This story means a lot to me because of how it depicts a good life without going on some grand adventure, so I wanted to try to draw it, I made sure to try and show off the star as the North Star, due to Betani naming her son Polaris

This story means a lot to me because of how it depicts a good life without going on some grand adventure, so I wanted to try to draw it, I made sure to try and show off the star as the North Star, due to Betani naming her son Polaris

Three roads diverge in a purple wood:

1. The trees overhand and shadow the road, which is entirely covered in a moss that smells like seaweed

2. There's a burnt tree stump rising above the pebbled trail, and a trail of ashes follow singed leaves and feathers

3. Overgrown blackberry bushes cut into the path, making it narrow and prickly, but there's an enticing scent of lemonade

I wake up because a moth twitches on my arm. I twist, and it teleports. Once the moth leaves, the house is motionless. My leg throbs, so I lean on the wall for support as I stumble down the stairs. The midday light crosses through the windows and outshines the candles. Kaztra always extinguishes each candle before she leaves. I sit at the table buried with Larak’s finger paintings, Kaztra’s landscape paintings, and Rakad’s reports. I rewrite a report so it’s legible. The door opens. A King’s Mage enters, and soldiers follow.

“Rabal. Where’s Kaztra?” asks the mage.

“She left,” I say. “What happened?”

The mage signals the soldiers, who search the rooms.

The mage’s bodyguard, Matash, looks straight into my eyes, “We came to arrest Kaztra and Larak. Rakad will be executed.”

“On whose authority? Larath will never allow this.”

“Zo-Larath ordered the execution. Rakad helped the assassination attempt,” the mage says.

“He did not. I’ll talk with Larath,” I walk five steps and fall on Larak’s doll. I ask a soldier for his spear, which I use as a cane.

I take the portal to the palace.

“Someone find Rabal a chair, and everyone, even Bathaz, leave,” Larath says atop his throne.

An adviser brings an armchair and leaves. I sit on the stone floor.

“Guards came to the house. They said you ordered Rakad killed.”

“I did. In an execution tonight.”

“Why? He didn’t help those assassins.”

“I won’t arrest you. You'll teach bodyguard-mage interactions at the academy.”

“You plan to kill Rakad, and he would die for you. I don’t care about me.” I grab the spear and leave.

Chains tie a blindfolded Rakad to a post, the glow of his hair faint against the sunset. He has magic energy. He has a plan. 

(IE the natural disaster your area tends to be at an especially high risk for, if it wasn't clear - for example I grew up in northern Oklahoma, USA so naturally it was tornadoes and severe thunderstorms there, and now I live much much much further north so it's blizzards/winter weather

'you didn't consider' could be anything from weather/geological things that I didn't think of to "a herd of elephants lives nearby and keeps coming into my town and destroying things" it's just gotta be naturally occurring and also a disaster

So if someone is chemically sedated, doesn’t understand that’s what’s happening, but doesn’t complain then they could be seen to be “consenting” to that treatment. That’s true even if they don’t know what the medication is, what the effects are, how long they last or that there might be other options.

Because the presence of “consent” means that a restriction wouldn’t be considered “Deprivation of Liberty” it means these people aren’t entitled to deprivation of liberty safeguards, which including having independent checks to make sure that any restrictions to their freedom is proportionate and that they’re not being abused in that setting.
