preds can of course, eat people by swallowing them whole though not without legal repercussions as eating someone without permission who's does not possess a prey gene is treated as, at best, attempted kidnapping and at worst attempted murder. As a trade off for the gnawing hunger preds usually have physical, social, or mental abilities beyond normal human capacity. Due to their greater appetites preds are often given extra money on their paycheck to be able to purchase more food.

prey on the other hand can be eaten freely due to their ability to reform after being eaten, usually popping up in their bedroom around a day later after they were eaten as if they had taken a full nights rest, though some prey can "haunt" their predators and see how they go about their daily life after devouring them and some very experienced prey can have an actual conversation with their pred and feel themselves wobbling on their form as sentient mass. Due to their abilities, or someone's sense of humor, they're often put in situations working with, for, or serving preds and are often given hazard pay after being eaten without permission.

Though prey aren't 100% immortal, either by completely submitting to their predator or being overpowered after being consumed and digested their soul can be forcibly pulled into their pred's depths, permanently sealing their fate having their soul forever trapped or digested completely and erased
