âYouâre not? Funny⊠you looked like one,â countered Jonah with a gentle shrug of his shoulders at the other manâs words. A case of someone dumping a book where it didnât belong, something that had long annoyed him, especially as it had led to him almost knocking someone unconscious with it and not the book heâd actually been looking for. At the question, he cast a gaze back to the shelf above him. âAnything about hiking honestly, especially around here. I need to get out more.â It was a hobby he needed to pick back up in a big way, it had always done plenty to relax him, to make him appreciate the world.
âThe extended family from Egypt were pretty cool but the whole glittering kills the fear of a vampire for me.â He chuckled as he picked up the maps of the local area. â The nature shelf is just here above the maps. They have all the best hikes from the coastline to the mountains and hills depends if you want a steep incline or just a leisurely stroll.â He offered and pointed to the shelf. âOff the beaten track is a good book which explains the hike trails and how they work along side popular culture and climate changes.â

Charlie wasnât a huge drinker, but she was super confused about her life and thought while her brother was at his sleepover she could have some me time. Having herself a glass of white wine she laughed as she heard the man speaking. âGive me a break.â she muttered under her breath, âIdiots.â She turned to the stranger and sighed, âIâm a woman of science so not sure how long I can listen to this before I say something.â Charlie shook her head and laughed, âI think it might be fun to throw you under the bus and watch his mind explode.â
-Â
Omar laughed. â it would be like playing chess with a pigeon, He looks like the kinda guy who would disagree with anything I say because he thinks he is better than me.â He rolled his eyes.â Lets go get a drink. Iâll pay what you having?â He asked with a small smile. â I need to go to the other end of the bar because If I hear that guy start talking about flat earth I will lose my mind.â He ordered the drinks then looked back at her. â So woman of science. What do you do?â
Isabella was sad and pregnant so she couldnât drink but that didnât stop her from going out. She ordered herself a soda water with lime and sat at the bar sighing softly, before overhearing the person speaking and she laughed. âThey definitely know what they are talking about too.â She wished her biggest issue was this person spouting fakeness in the bar. âHow about you buy me a plate of fries and you have yourself a deal.
-
âSure. I kinda fancy some too.â Omar said and walked past the person causing a scene. Omar sat down and smiled at the waiter who came over. â What you having?â He asked in a friendly manner and Omar ordered fries for Isabella and burger for himself. Once the waiter had gone, Omar smiled at Isabella.â Howâs things?â He asked trying to make conversation.
âIf you donât Iâll destroy him myself.â Bre could feel her blood boiling listening to the drunk patron. She wasnât an expert in that area but she knew enough to pass her classes. âThey donât deserve their ego.â She rolled her eyes, a beer wasnât that much of a prize but companionship was. If she told that clown off  it would be less time talking to someone with a brain. âI can feel my brain cells melting. All that money and time I spent passing my classes is just dust now. If he spouts off that dumb conspiracy that birds arenât real I will throw something."Â
-
âDon't do that or we will be chuckled out the bar.â Omar laughed. âOr that the sky is actually panels and we are in the matrix.â Omar shook his head with a smirk. â How about we get away from the man who has no ide how the world works and Iâll buy you a drink. What you having?â He asked with a friendly smile. â You study meteorology?â Omar asked with a impressed smile, grateful that someone knew what he was talking about.
Jeremy found himself at bars a little too often these days he wasnât a massive drinker to the point of abusing it but he definitely would frequent bars and have a few beers at least a couple times a week at this point. âI think you telling them that may only make them want to argue their case more, they will tell you how much research their friend once did and informed them of before telling you you are part the problem speeding lies. Best to leave them oblivious and let them figure it out for themselves when the affects become harder to ignore.â He chuckled taking a swig from his bottle. âIâll always take another drink but I have to say id buy you one just to hear a bit about how you got into that job in the first place.â
âYeah you are probably right.â Omar chuckled and shook his head as the man continued to make a fool of himself. âIâll get this one and you can get the next. Same as before?â He asked with a smile. âI wish it was an exciting story but its not really. My dad is a climatologist so I just kinda followed in his footsteps and now I basically collect the data and work out when storms are coming. What do you do?â

It wasn't very often something like happened. Omar was having a drink with friends when he overheard someone start talking loudly about how climate change was a total joke and it was just sensationalised news. He stood and listened as the person continued to make a fool of themselves. Omar leant in the the person beside him and smiled. â Do you think I should tell them I am a meteorologist and everything they have been told is horse crap...â He stopped and then smiled. â Nah I think Iâll let them think they know what they are talking about.â He said as he watched them with wide eyes as they tried to command the room with their uneducated views. Omar turned to the person next to them and smiled âIâll buy you a drink if you promise not tell them I know more about climate change then they do.â He chuckled and put his finger to his lips.Â

Jonah should have known it would be a problem when he reached up to grab the book a shelf or so above his head. The combination of the height and the fact he needed to lean over someone crouched down looking at something on the bottom shelf, had of course meant disaster was coming. Sure enough, the title slipped from his fingers just as he laid a hand on it, tumbling down to the ground and missing the person who was down there by only a centimetre or so. Immediately he cringed, cursing, and then said with a shake of his head, âThatâll teach me for trying to be clever. Iâm sorry. You okay aside from a mild heart attack?â
-
Omar never understood why story keeper kept the maps on the bottom shelf. Surely they should have been at eye line. He crouched down and sifted through different maps trying to find the maps of the mountains and high terrain of Washington. He had just found what he was looking for when a book fell narrowly missing him. He picked it up off the floor and looked at it. â Sorry but Iâm not a twilight fan.â He chuckled as he stood up and tried to put it back but gave up as he was too short to reach the top shelf. â Iâll just put it here,â He said with a shrug and placed it on the table near the shelf . â What are you looking for?â He asked with a friendly smile.Â

Skye hummed to herself as she walked through the farmers market. The airpod in her ear playing something reminiscent of the backstreet boys. It wasnât the most apt music to be picking out her bachelor viewing food, but it was making the shopping experience a little more entertaining.Â
The blonde stopped at a bread stall, jaw a little eskew at all of the different types of loaves. If there was one thing Skye loved more than pizza and her job, it was bread. âHoly shit!â She preened, picking up a fresh loaf of sourdough and squeezing it.Â
Despite the squished appearance, the action made her happy and she looked at the person beside her. âOkay, feel this bread. Itâs fucking amazing.âÂ

Omar was buying some croissants for the nights he had to work and would have something sugary and sweet to go with his high caffeine coffee. He turned and chuckled as she squeezed the bread. â If that's what you do to bread I cant imagine what you do to people that you like.â He chuckled as his croissants were handed to him. â Iâm a croissant addict.â He said and put his finger to his lips. â promise you wont tell anyone and Iâll buy you the bread you are squeezing.â

Biography
Omar Asim was born on a research trip in Alaska and brought up in Cairo by a Climatologist and a doctor. As an only child, he was doted on by both parents and taught to strive for excellence in the field of science. He studied hard on weekdays and got to have time to relax on weekends. He would even accompany his father on research trips in his school breaks and his mother would help him with homework when his father was away. Life was good for the family who worked hard and relaxed together. Christmas was the main time they all took off and spent time together as his mother was American and loved to share it with her family. This made Omar love that winter most. A combination of cold weather, his birthday and Christmas with the family always made Omar look forward to the end of the year while he studied in Cairo. He wasnât keen on Summer as his father would go on research trips and his mother would pull in extra shifts at the hospital so she wouldnât miss her husband. Omar spent a majority of his time with his friends who were also high achievers. While they had their lives mapped out for themselves. He still struggled with his future and still questioned what he wanted to do.
Even though Omar excelled at school it was his sweet affable personality made him a hit with friends and girls. He dated a few girls but his career took over when he realized he wanted to follow in his fatherâs footsteps. A straight-A student, Omar was accepted into Seattle University to study Earth and Planetary sciences degree and after three years of hard work, he left with honours. Omar went back to Cairo and worked for his father for a while but became bored and wanted to excel his career further and went to Harvard to obtain a Ph.D. in environmental sciences and engineering. It was hard work and at times he wanted to walk away as he watched his friends settle down and get married and have children, but he knew it would be worth it in the end. When he did finally finish his Ph.D., his parents had decided to retire and locate to  his mother's home city of Seattle and since he was close to his parents, he followed them and with a little help from his father ended up working as a meteorologist of Atmospheric, Oceanic, and environmental sciences. His father was incredibly proud of him but his mother worried about his lack of relationships. It was when his father suffered a stroke, that Omar realised life was short  and decided to look into meeting people.
Omar dated other scientists and teachers, but never really gelled with anyone until he met Kate, She was spontaneous and impulsive and fun and he fell for her instantly. She worked as a photographer for a magazine and within a year they were living together and engaged. It was then she got the bad news. Kate had ovarian cancer. Omar went to his mother for advice and helped Kate when she had a full hysterectomy, stopping their chance of ever being parents. But was too late and the cancer had spread with no chance of remission. Omar knew he was losing her, so on New Years eve, they married before she was admitted to a hospice. On the 12th January, Kate passed away in her sleep with her family at her side. Omar stayed with her till he was the last to leave. Since then he has worked solidly and rejected any forms of socializing. Â It was only when his mother informed him it had been two years since Kateâs death, that he reluctantly agreed to network more as a slow approach to gaining a social life again. Still an affable friendly person, Omar took a break and worked in San Fran for a while and fell for a guy called Lee, but it ended when Lee wanted to meet Omar's family and Omar just wasn't ready. Alone again, Omar headed back to Seattle after a job opened up in the pacific northwest meteorology department of environmental sciences. He has been there now for five years and life is now calm but just like the weather he knows it can change.
