Because of PrideMonth, I wanted to share the asexuality and aromanticity spectrum with everyone.

I know this blog is a genderblog, but I feel like there isn’t enough representation for asexual people during PrideMonth. So, I made a list of all of the asexual identities to let everyone know how big this part of the LGBTQ+ community actually is. You heard it, people on the asexuality and aromanticity spectrum are LGBTQ+.

Asexual: Asexuality is the lack of sexual attraction to others, or low or absent interest in or desire for sexual activity.

Aromantic: An aromantic is a person who experiences little or no romantic attraction to others.

Demisexual: A demisexual is a person who does not experience sexual attraction unless they form a strong emotional connection with someone.

Demiromantic: A demiromantic is a type of grey-romantic who only experiences romantic attraction after developing an emotional connection beforehand.

Greysexual: Someone who experiences occasional and/or mild sexual attraction.

Greyromantic: Someone who experiences occasional and/or mild romantic attraction.

Cupiosexual and cupioromantic: Cupiosexual is a subset of asexual. It is used to describe asexuals (people who never experience sexual attraction) who still desire a sexual relationship. Cupioromantic is a subset of aromantic.

Lithsexual: Akoisexual (also called akoinesexual and lithsexual) refers to a person who experiences sexual attraction, but has their feelings fade if reciprocated.

Lithromantic: Lithromantic (also known as akoiromantic or apromantic) is a romantic orientation on the asexual spectrum. Somebody who is lithromantic can feel romantic attraction towards others and also enjoy being in romantic relationships but only in theory. They do not need the affection to be reciprocated, and as such do not usually feel compelled to seek out a relationship with someone they are interested in.

Fraysexual and frayromantic: Fraysexual (and also frayromantic; also called reverse-demisexual/romantic) people feel attraction only initially upon meeting or seeing someone. These feelings weaken or disappear once a bond is formed.

Quoisexual: Quoisexual is generally described as:

* Being unsure if you experience attraction or not.

* Being unable to understand attraction as a concept or feeling.

* Finding the concept of attraction inaccessible, inapplicable, nonsensical.

* Being unable to define sexual attraction and so unable to say whether or not you experience it.

* Having difficulty distinguishing sexual attraction from other types of attraction.

* Struggling to find a sexual orientation that is applicable to you because attraction is too complicated or because none seem to fit.

* Not experiencing sexuality, sexual orientation or sexual attraction as it is normally defined.

Quoiromantic: Quoiromantic is generally described as:

* Being unsure if you experience attraction or not.

* Being unable to understand attraction as a concept or feeling.

* Finding the concept of attraction to be inaccessible, inapplicable, nonsensical.

* Being unable to define romantic attraction so unable to say whether or not you experience it.

* Having a hard time distinguishing romantic attraction from other types of attractions, or being unable to distinguish them at all (For example, you can’t distinguish romantic feelings from platonic, or you have a hard time distinguishing romantic from sensual feelings).

* Struggling to find a better term because it is too complicated or because they just don’t fit any other term.

* Not experiencing romanticism in a traditional manner.

Aceflux: Aceflux is a gray-asexuality and it describes someone whose experience of sexual attraction varies over time; it fluctuates between being allosexual/zedsexual, completely asexual, and/or somewhere in between. Someone who is aceflux, for example, may feel very strongly asexual one day (definitely not feeling any sexual attraction to anyone), but less strongly asexual (maybe feeling weak sexual attraction) another day.

Aroflux: A gray-aromantic orientation that fluctuates between being alloromantic/zedromantic, completely aromantic, and/or somewhere in between. Someone who is aroflux, for example, may feel very strong aromantic one day (definitely not feeling any romantic attraction to anyone), but less strongly aromantic (maybe feeling weak romantic attraction) another day.

and i’m adding some things! while these two sexualities aren’t completely about the ace/aro community, they are important to be known.

Abrosexual: The term abrosexual refers to an individual who is sexually fluid/has a fluid and/or rapidly changing sexuality that fluctuates between many different sexual orientations. These may vary, and may not be all sexualities. The changes in sexuality may be erratic or regular(days, months or years). These fluctuations tend to vary from person to person, as do the sexualities that they may fluctuate between.

Novosexual: A Novosexual, is someone who cannot outright say what their sexuality or gender is, because it is not permanent. Novosexuals are constantly fluctuating between different genders and sexual orientations. How long it may take between the next fluctuation will vary from person to person. Novosexual are only such when their sexual orientation changes along with their gender identity.

Forgot a word in Spanish, while speaking Spanish to me, but remembered it in English. Became weirdly quiet as they seemed to lose their entire sense of identity.

Used a literal translation of a Russian idiomatic expression while speaking English. He actually does this quite regularly, because he somehow genuinely forgets which idioms belong to which language. It usually takes a minute of everyone staring at him in confused silence before he says “….Ah….. that must be a Russian one then….”

Had to count backwards for something. Could not count backwards in English. Counted backwards in French under her breath until she got to the number she needed, and then translated it into English.

Meant to inform her (French) parents that bread in America is baked with a lot of preservatives. Her brain was still halfway in English Mode so she used the word “préservatifes.” Ended up shocking her parents with the knowledge that apparently, bread in America is full of condoms.

Defined a slang term for me……. with another slang term. In the same language. Which I do not speak.

Was talking to both me and his mother in English when his mother had to revert to Russian to ask him a question about a word. He said “I don’t know” and turned to me and asked “Is there an English equivalent for Нумизматический?” and it took him a solid minute to realize there was no way I would be able to answer that. Meanwhile his mom quietly chuckled behind his back.

Said an expression in English but with Spanish grammar, which turned “How stressful!” into “What stressing!”
