So I decided to read about achromatopsia (the most similar disease to silverwash we have)

And here the differences begin. Achromatopsia comes with many other eye conditions (like really bad eyesight, fear of light because of sensitivity to it, involuntary eye movements). Tartah doesn't have all of this, he just can't see colors, so most likely silverwash is silverwash as an unknown to us magical disease in their world.

And getting to the point, achromatopsia is an inherited genetic disorder that prevents the cone cells in the retina from functioning properly. Our world do have glasses for colorblind people, but it works only for people with red-green color blindness.

So no focusing of light and multilayer filter can do it for him... Or there's something magical in their world I don't actually know about and we need to blame it on witch society again, so yeah. Think as you want to.

It's so fucking funny that in the anime Tartah only picks up his hat near the end of the episode, while in the manga he immediately took it and put it on the bed
