From my spam IG: “Are You Winning Daughter?” 2021 vs 2024

The one on the left was made when I was a Junior in undergrad in 2021.

The one on the right was made in January of this year, at the age of 23, a few weeks after my undergrad graduation.

The me on the left was at the peak of her philosophy education, super into a goth music era, somewhat of a soft tankie, and really, really, really into sci-fi. It was my intention at the time to try to do philosophy grad school. I haven’t completely ruled that out, but for now I’m spending time working in my other field, which is media.

I’m glad things are different now because GOD I’m glad I didn’t fall down the whole Red Scare Tradcath convert thing, because I really think if certain things hadn’t happened as a wake up call the edge lord in me could’ve taken over. Sometimes, with intense weird online leftists, I think what you really need is to like… work a normal job.

Anyway I’m working in radio and audio now and I’m vibing. 2024 me I think is veering away from this highly romantic view of things I used to have. I think I used to be really concerned with being perceived as a philosopher or goth girl or an artist or whatever else and now I just like… wanna do the work, man.

Now I think my interests are less aligned with fitting into any one aesthetic or anything like that, and more aligned with whatever I naturally like and I’m interested in.

Slow Progress

back in the gym consistently 4 the first time in years. I had been really opposed 2 it 4 a while, it was really hard to find time and energy for it when I was still in my undergrad program. But it’s been about 6 months since I graduated now and I’m adjusting to that transition and I’m actually realizing, I like working out!

I’ve been trying to do just like 30 minutes on the treadmill everyday, but it’s also fine if I miss a day or two. I think working out with focus issues can be hard, so I keep myself focused by turning the incline up once every minute, then when it caps out at 15, I turn it down once a minute. It’s like I’m going over a big hill.
