Alright, let’s get the biggest thing I have a problem with out of the way.

The cannibalism. Wow. This came out of left field, and the lore had better have a REALLY GOOD EXPLANATION for why this is happening. 

I’m ok with darker things like this in Forsaken’s lore when it makes sense, but this? 

Nowhere have we ever heard that anything related to cannibalism was included in the Spawn cult’s belief system, and, even though we haven’t heard much at all about the Spawn cult’s beliefs, isn’t it a little strange that they’d do this? The cult that believes people can respawn after death?

Now, these bodies are probably those who never “earned” a second life by way of sacrificing another member of the cult, and, as shown with Azure, most likely those who were sacrificed by the cult. 

I just have one question. In the ARG website (aspenslastbreath.neocities.org), it’s stated that: 

“I came across a walled village, able to house maximum 60 people from what I gather.” 

In the image of Azure stumbling across the bodies, there are at least three bodies shown. 

Where is this cult, with less than 60 people, getting so many corpses from?! The population CANNOT sustain a large amount of deaths!

Is the 3 at one time just an anomaly? I sure hope so, because if it’s the norm, Elder Amarah is consuming a ridiculous amount of people. 

The bodies have most likely not been in the storage for a while, as I sincerely doubt the cult in the middle of the woods that actively sends out people to look for firewood, and relies on herbal remedies for illnesses, has a cold storage setup in one of the buildings. So that means they’re probably fresh. Very fresh.

I thought sacrifices were a special thing that didn’t happen often. In a community that small, constant killings aren’t compatible with long term community survival.

Is the cult sourcing these bodies from outside its walls? Could they be killing outsiders that stumble upon the community as well? Maybe, but if that’s true, Azure would’ve been killed when he first met Two Time.

The ONLY WAY I can see any of this happening, for any reason, is if:

Amarah is a cannibal who started this cult with the sole intent of harvesting bodies to consume.

That would explain why he’d either not care about the long term survival of the cult, or have an industrial walk-in freezer in the middle of a cult that appears to reject technology as part of its beliefs.

And that idea is just so ridiculous to me. It’s almost funny.

A possible counter-point to the theory I just came up with would be that Amarah DOES believe in the Spawn, and he eats the bodies as some kind of ritual.

If so, then why does he hide it? The human sacrifices weren’t covered up!

Under this new lore, Two Time likely sacrificed Azure under direct orders from Amarah, after Azure found out his secret. 

This is making the Two Time and Azure lore sound less like a story of cult manipulation and fanatical devotion leading to tragedy, and more like a person seeing something they weren’t supposed to, and being killed for it.

Have the Forsaken writers forgotten the point? Have they “lost the plot”, as the kids are saying these days?

To be honest, the more I think about it, the cannibalism thing looks more and more like just a plot element shoved into the story to make the Spawn cult look worse.

And that wasn’t necessary. They are sacrificing people. Killing them. 

The optimistic part of me wants to believe that the Forsaken team has a great story planned out, and that I’m just jumping the gun on this whole thing, and I’ll look like an idiot who wasn’t patient enough to see how the pieces fit together. 

But I’ve lost faith in the Forsaken team about many things, lore being one of them. 

This is a block game that includes a purple man, who the team has been trying to convince me is a god, with a voiceline that is literally a glitched Markiplier intro. Even Azure himself is the mozzarella fries Burger King assault man. This is an actual image of the Spectre that is apparently canon (take this with a lamp-sized grain of salt):

What am I getting at here?

It’s that Forsaken is having an identity crisis. I’ll admit that I am not one to judge others for tonal whiplash. The Forsaken dev team is allowed to be silly with their characters. 

But it gets to a point. I’ve been able to tolerate some of the decisions made by the team that seem overly dark, but, starting with this whole “collapse of Robloxia” thing, where it has been confirmed that ROBLOXIANS AS A SPECIES HAVE GONE EXTINCT, I’m starting to become very confused as for what Forsaken wants to present itself as. 

If we count non-canon skins in here too, as most if not all people who play the actual game use skins, then this just starts getting weird. We have Hatsune Miku. And Jerma. In this game. 

And the Forsaken dev team also wants me to accept the fact that cannibalism is happening in the background. And everyone is dead. 

This is not an argument against skins in this game, they are fun. But the Forsaken devs should take a step back and look at the whole picture before adding dark topics into their roblox game, and ESPECIALLY revealing these things with no context whatsoever as to how this fits into the overall story.

Okay, next topic! 

Who is Aspen? 

Is it Azure? I hope not. 

One of the main complaints about Azure I’ve seen tossed around is that he’s just a random OC that has been carried by his cool design and lore. A counterpoint to this I often see is that they’re named after the Azurewrath series of items, to which he shares… little resemblance, but ok. He’s also linked to the Spawn symbol, so that integrates him into the Roblox theme a bit.

Why would they give him another name? What is the point? To confuse us? (Is the Spectre deadnaming them? Genuine possibility.)

Or, is Aspen Two Time’s given name?

I actually like this, for the sole reason that the aforementioned ARG website is called Aspen’s last breath. 

If Aspen is Two Time, then we’ll finally get to see how and why Two Time died and entered the Forsaken realm. If Aspen is Azure, then the website is just giving us another point of view on Azure’s death, which has got to be one of the most often-depicted events in Forsaken. We’ve seen it so many times. 

Unfortunately, by the way the message mentioning Aspen is worded, Aspen is most likely Azure. Or I’m just bad at reading.

Whelp. This is what I get for writing something at 11 PM, but in the ARG website’s latest update, it appears that it has been confirmed that Aspen is Azure’s name. Why? What purpose does this serve? 

Where did the name Azure come into the picture? Does him being called Azure matter at all?

Last up! 

This isn’t actually a new point. But I haven’t been able to talk about it yet. It’s the hat.

Azure cannot speak. The hat speaks for him. I am unsure if the tidbit about the Spectre speaking through the hat is canon, but it sure isn’t Azure talking.

This really annoys me. If the hat isn’t going to align with Azure’s thoughts, why have it speak at all? We can have another mute killer, after all.

We haven’t gotten a lot of characterization for Azure. We’ve been told things, yes, about his anger issues, their feelings towards Two Time after death (even though it’s still EXTREMELY UNCLEAR what those feelings were), his current hatred, but I want to see it. I don’t want people to have to rely on official statements that are hard to access. 

Give us Azure. Not the hat feeding us things Azure wouldn’t say. 

In conclusion, I actually want to regret writing this. I want to reblog this on Friday or Saturday and say “these were terrible takes, and I’m going to retreat into my cave and never complain about Forsaken lore again.”

I want the Forsaken team to make Azure and Two Time’s lore work. I like this game. I like the characters. But they’ve made me grow to dislike the story. I now dread every coming update as much as I’m excited, because the lore has, in my opinion, gone a bit off the rails. 

Feel free to argue against anything I’ve said here, I want to hear other takes. 

I’ll probably make a part 2 to this after the update comes out and we finally get all of the information.
