In the Japanese anime film “The Girl Who Leapt Through Time” based on Yasutaka Tsutsui's novel, the sentence "Time waits for no one" echoed both at the beginning and end of the movie.

In his poem “Invictus”, Henley declared "I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul."

The Rolling Stones recorded the song “Time is on My Side”

All of this got me thinking:

“Is time only a ruthless enemy or also a subtle ally we too often fail to recognize ?”

As the years go by, if we remain focused, unshakably determined, and committed to our deepest goals and desires despite all odds, time may slowly reveal the fragrance of the flowers and the beauty of the garden we have patiently cultivated, one day at a time.

Le sens de sa vie, la réussite, l’amour, Dieu, la mort, un avenir meilleur… ou simplement quelque chose qui viendrait donner une forme à un manque profond.

Faut-il accepter la lecture implicite de Beckett, celle d’une attente indéfiniment creuse ? Faut-il se résigner à une attente sans fin? Ou comprendre que ce à quoi nous aspirons ne se présente presque jamais sous la forme que nous l’avions imaginée ?

Tout dans l’existence, est impermanent. Et pourtant, paradoxalement, toutes les couleurs de la vie s’expriment en même temps, dans une sorte de coexistence assez troublante. 

La vie apparaît alors comme absurde, souvent grotesque et sans sens. Non pas dans la théorie, mais dans l’expérience vécue.

Dans “En attendant Godot” de Samuel Beckett et dans sa réinterprétation par Damkerng Thitapiyasak, cette attente devient presque douloureuse. 

Le temps passe, les personnages ne savent plus vraiment ce qu’ils attendent, ni depuis combien de temps, ni même pourquoi. Ils sont pris dans un intervalle suspendu, où le temps s’étire sans fin.

Une évidence naît silencieusement dans cet espace : on attend, alors même que rien ne garantit que nous serons encore là lorsque “Godot” arrivera... S’il arrive un jour.

Et si Godot n’était pas seulement quelqu’un, quelque chose à attendre, mais ce que nous sommes en train de devenir sans le voir, sans le savoir?

Et si Godot était simplement soi?

Est-ce que vouloir c'est toujours pouvoir ?

Qu'est-ce que ça fait de se défaire de tout ce qu'on a construit sur des dizaines d'années pour devoir reconstruire ailleurs autrement... Sans que ce ne soit un choix ?

Qu'est-ce que la vie et pourquoi nous dit-on quelle est belle?
