In #UNSC mtg on Middle East, @MSF SG Christopher Lockyear says: "Israeli forces have attacked our convoys, detained our staff, bulldozed our vehicles, hospitals have been bombed and raided. And now for a second time, one of our staff shelters has been hit. This pattern of attacks is either intentional or indicative of reckless incompetence. Our colleagues in #Gaza are fearful that as I speak to you today, they will be punished tomorrow."
He adds: "The humanitarian response in Gaza today is an illusion. A convenient illusion that perpetuates a narrative that this war is being waged in line with international laws. Calls for humanitarian assistance have echoed across this chamber. Yet in Gaza we have less and less every day, less space, less medicine, less food, less water, less safety."
Specifically, Doctors Without Borders rarely makes political statements because doing so can jeopardize their ability to work in as many places as possible (including places controlled by incredibly shitty governments), and their one singular goal is to provide medical care wherever it's needed. They are extremely practical-minded as an organization and will, regardless of members' personal beliefs, avoid potentially offending people who have the ability to make their work more difficult/impossible. All they care about is getting doctors to the people who need the doctors. If they're doing this, it's because providing medical care in Palestine has become so difficult that calling on the global community for action gives them better odds of being able to do their jobs than avoiding offense to the Israeli government, possibly because offending the Israeli government can no longer make the situation worse than it already is.

If you live in the EU are or an EU citizen and your account gets deleted for any reason you think isn't justified, please consider doing the following:
1. Make sure to collect evidence of what happened on your end.
2. Contact Tumblr support and tell them you are requesting your data under the GDPR and that as part of the request you want them to state what specific personal data they collected justified the deletion of your account. If they refuse to do either, state that they are under a legal obligation to provide this data to you, that they should forward your request to and put you in contact with their "Data Protections Officer", and that if they do not comply, you will alert the relevant "Data Protection Authority".
3. If in step 2 they showed evidence of some kind of discrimination or did not furnish reasonable information, or you suspect they are lying, do the following: Find either the data protection authority (DPA) of your country of residence or that of Ireland (may be a better choice if your government discriminates against queer people) on the EU website, on the website of the DPA you should be able to find guidance on how to submit a complaint. Try to follow their guidelines but also make sure that in your complaint you state that: your account was unjustifiably deleted, what measures you took under step 2, and what Tumblr responded with.
Basically your goal with the above should be to get Tumblr to show that they either had no reason to delete your account or discriminated against you when deleting it. With substantiated claims, the DPA can essentially force the company to fix their behaviour (reinstate your account) and if there is a pattern, the DPA may fine the company. You can also usually claim monetary compensation (including for e.g emotional damage) for such discrimination or other violations of the GDPR in small claims or similar court (contact a lawyer in your jurisdiction, there are quite a few that offer consumers advice who don't charge fees unless you win compensation).

So, I'm looking into the whole Tumblr discrimination suit thing.
They settled with the CCHR in 2022 because, at the time, they were headquartered there, I believe, but that's no longer the case. Automattic Inc., and by extension, Tumblr, are headquartered now at 60 29th Street #343 San Francisco, CA 94110
So I believe we'd want to get in touch with the human rights commission in san fransisco instead. I don't know fuckall about this kind of legal thing though, so someone who either knows more or is better at research should figure out if it's worthwhile to bring this to the CCHR given that All This Shit is a pretty overt violation of the terms of their settlement with them, even if they are now headquartered elsewhere.
I need eyes on this. I can't do this alone, but we SUPER have this together. Come on, let's combine our autism and fire the transgender laser directly at tumblr headquarters. Via

Right now? Legal research. I think a good move right now would be to contact the CCHR and just, ask about what the protocol is here. Tumblr made the settlement with them, and i'm kind of sure they've violated the terms of it? That's what we need to clarify. If they have, we need to then find out what to do about it. If this is like, a closed case, we need to find the equivalent office in san fransisco and file a complaint with them.
I gotta emphasize I do not know how this legal stuff works, but getting in touch with an office to ask these kinds of questions is generally the correct first move here, and does not constitute Starting A Whole Process on its own.

it might be worth collecting contact info of anyone who's been wrongfully terminated so a potential lawyer can get an idea of the scope here, and so those people can be notified when an actual suit is put together.
