I (30M) and an… acquaintance (28) are stuck in a cabin together and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about kissing them. However, we sort of got off on the wrong foot because I didn’t tell them who I really was or why I was in town when we first met. (I thought they might be involved in at least one murder. Long story.) I’m pretty sure they’re flirting with me now though. We can just make out, right? WIBTA if I gave in? We’d be trapped together if it went poorly. And I’m supposed to be protecting them, not kissing them!

Do you ever think about how so much of love depends on timing?  Being in the right place at the right time with the right person?  How Erend fell for Aloy quickly and hard, but realised that she didn’t want that, didn’t want him?  How Aloy wanted something for the ‘after’ that she might never get, but couldn’t afford the distraction when the fate of the world is on the line?  Do you think about how by the time Aloy has moved on enough to realise she does want love, want Erend, it might be too late?  That time hasn’t made the heart grow fonder, but has instead allowed Erend to pull back, not because of her, but because he can only take so much, because his heart is already cracked and bruised, and this world is already tough enough on him, it’s a fool who would add to that load.  Do you ever think about how time is not on their side, and how they are likely to be naught but ships passing in the night, brief moments that are fleeting but no less important for that.
