Chapter 2: What a Coincidence?
WARNING: MENTION BLOOD, A BIT OF GORE, & GUNS MENTION.
*BANG* *BANG* *BANG* *BANG*
They stood up while looking at the dead bodies laid on the ground before they disappeared in the vanishing air as if they were never there in the first place. "Well, they better do it correctly if they want to defeat me..." they responded at the vanishing bodies before looking at the forest. The forest was deep and taunting as if it was scary book that tells from the stories for children to stay away from it. Branches hanging on the trees along with leaves covering itself while staying still as the fog emerges from the void to cover up the ground. They stood there with a gun at hand while putting their lips as if they were thinking about something. "I need to be careful around these woods these days...It's not something that you could go in and out while there's searchers around. Besides these are just decoys of the searchers..." they thought as they move their gun away and head into the woods.
The energy that the woods was giving something paranormal acitivity as ghosts or monsters hang around the area. To put it simply, the townfolks though it was an urban legend of some kind to which they go vender around the trees, rocks, dirt and leaves. They hum a little tune before swiftly moving their body and jump on top of the branches that could withstand their weight as they look over the view. "Hmm...the fog is blocking every way from every direction. Yet...can't find my way in here specifically if there's searchers around these areas. I might end up dead either way if there's no other choice if that's the case..." they thought as they look above the ground. But, to their surprised, it just more trees and fog covering up everything as they let out a sigh. They lean against the tree while shuffling the gun a bit as they stared at it.
"This gun sucks...I wish Danzo put something better instead of this junk." they thought as they stare at the gun and shuffle the bottom hem. With a click sound, the piece of the bottom came apart and took a look of how much bullets do they have left before heading back into town to rest. "Only 12 left while the other have none. This should keep me in the game for some time before heading back to town." as they click back the bottom to the gun before placing it on their side strapped in. "Nothing much is going on, anyway..." they thought before getting back on the mission at hand as they scout through the forest. There was only peace and quiet in the forest, nothing much out the ordinary as they settle down on the ground with a jump. The sound of a small thud as they head over to the other direction pave the path.
Rustles of leave were moving within the sound of the wind in the air and trees staying still with the fog moving behind. They look around the area and saw nothing as they head over to the trees and bushes coming through. With their black glove hands reaching out the bushes to move, a step went over and walk in to see if there's something out here before heading left. They could almost hear the sound of voices in the other direction as they stop their tracks and turn to the direction. They listened carefully and hear the sound of yelling and footsteps coming in that direction as they slowly turn their head a bit. It seems that there was a problem going on there as they fully turn around to see a figment of shadows running like two cups running in the opposite direction from where they're at.
"Interesting...What a coincidence..." they thought as they watch the two cups heading down the hill and going deeper within the woods. "Wrong way, by the way. They're heading to the wrong direction of the side of Toon Town nearby." they thought as they stood there. A sudden thud was heard from the background with a sound of a growl as they slowly look over to see searcher behind them. "Never mind that...Guess, I have to be busy for this little paycheck of mine~" they thought as they quickly reach out for their gun. With a sound of a click, a bullet shot right through the searcher as it almost fell back before regaining its step. "Ah ah ah~ You shouldn't be moving from that spot~" they called out as the searcher shriek out loud in pain. It regain itself before it started blotting out black blood oozing from the front before attacking them.
They quickly move out of the way before shooting once again to the side. They kept on shooting the searcher until there were no bullets only to hear the sound of click go off again and again. "Damnit it..." they thought as they threw the gun to the side. The searcher attack them as they dodge once again and head over to the direction of where they were planning to go. It roar loudly as it came after them. The sound of thud and footsteps are catching up to them as they look over their shoulder. A loud roar erupted from the searcher's mouth and it came running after them as they let out a hum. "They don't give up, don't they?" they thought before heading to the right away from the Toon Town as they dive in deeper within the woods.
A click of a gun aim at the searcher with a pow pow sound, hitting it's vital points as they distance themselves. The searcher roar in pain and went to attack them as they quickly moved away from their spot. They moved away before they could get hurt as they aim their gun at them. The searcher transform itself into something more monstrous as they stared at it. "Oh what a wonderful day to change something that you don't want to be..." they mumbled to themselves as the searcher changed into something horrifying and grotesque. The monster has the blob clinging onto him like some sort of melting chocolate form as it fingers grew into something sharp like a demon.
Mouth started to grow large with razor sharp teeth and grayish tongue sticking out as it grew limbs that expands it's support. As it was growing, the monster grew sloppily and monstruous before letting out a large roar out in the woods. The black spit was splat at their face along with their (H/c) (H/l) hair was blowing behind them as they move the speck of black spit from there. "How interesting..." they said as their glove finger move off the black spit from their face. The black monster look at them before attacking them head on as they got ready. "I hate using magic out in the open...It's against the regulations of my contract but...oh well..." they said before slowly chanting out an unknown language as they held their gun. The monster was about to swallowed them whole until a sudden purple blast hit the monster.
The monster stood at a point before it felt something pinning it down with force. The body was held as it growl out loud and screech as they stood in front of the monster. "Sorry, pet~ But, I'm not the one who getting eaten tonight~ Maybe someone else?~" they stated as they bend down and stared at the monster. It's teeth tried to bite off their finger, but they moved away quickly as they started to chant something else. Words moved fluidly with the unknown language as the monster screech in pain before it disperse into thin air. Dust was all over the place as they tip their glasses up a bit. "Poor little thing~ You should have survived a bit longer than you need to be...Better luck next time, love~" they said before turning around and heading back to the nearby town.
"Now off to the paycheck!~"
"Did you hear that, Cuphead?" the cup turn to his twin who just had his arms behind his head. "Eh? What are you talking about, Mugman? There's nothing out here expect us and those searchers." the other twin responded as the cup turn to the side and behind him. "I was sure that I heard something like a scream or cry..." Mugman mumbled as his twin shrug. "Maybe it was a random animal or searcher? You know that didn't ya? You're being paranoid right now." Cuphead responded, staring at the sky as Mugman stared behind them. "Y-yeah...you're right. Maybe it was my imagination getting through me." he said as he turn to Cuphead who let out a sigh of relief. "Whelp! In that case! We better get going!" Cuphead said as he down the trail back to the Toon Town.
Mugman glance at his brother before looking behind him one last time as he leaves. He follows his brother down the trail without ever looking back to whatever happens in that forest. As the twins were heading there back to town, a shadowy figure stood next to the tree as they watch them. Their (H/c) (H/l) colored hair flow with the wind and their figure standing in the forest as they watched the Collectors go down the hill and into the Toon town. "Oh dearie~ What a coincidence? Never thought to meet the Collectors here especially in Toon town..." they said to themselves as they watch them. "What's interesting is that rumor been going on specifically a map...? I remember very clearly who it is..." they placed their glove finger on their lips, thinking some certain details wrap in their head.
However, the map was never mention to them despite working under varies occupants due to a contractor as they stood up straight. Clearly, this information was new to them. "They probably might be heading there to find Felix...But, that shouldn't be my problem." they stated as they turn around and look at the forest.
"Whatever going with that map. I shouldn't include myself in it. No matter what's going on."
"Lady Killer at your service~"
"What's the situation on your end?"
"Nothing much. Only searchers around. Not a single sight of this certain info of yours." they responded while twirling their gun with their glove finger.
"What seems to be the problem?"
"There's been ongoing rumor from what I've been gathering in Toon Town and I hope you known by now."
"Oh?~ You mean the map, you say?" they asked as they look over at the town, feeling a bit suspicious about what's going on.
"So, you heard it? I'm a bit surprised to hear it from you." as they let out a chuckle on the end of the phone line.
"Know me so well~ And yes~ From what I've heard...A little cat named Felix who I presumably might have the map. But, I assure you that it wasn't in my contract, no?" as they began to catwalk near the hill and the bushes.
"The map isn't our concern right now based on your contract. I assure you that you must do what the contract says as well with the rules."
A soft hum left out from their lips before slowly turning around and catwalk once again.
"As much I want to dilly dally on whatever this rumor is going on. Assuming that part of the information wasn't intended for me. I did what you ask for. Anything else you might inform me?" they stated as they stop their tracks and glance over the beautiful view of Toon town.
"None at all. But, I do want a report done by my office once you're done unless you have something that you needed to do."
A sudden thought came into their mind as they place the gun back into the sheath and cross their arm underneath.
"Supposedly, yes, I do. I have to take care some certain duties and meet a certain friend of mine. Right now, I can't keep a woman waiting for me while on duty." they stated as they silently tap their foot, lightly.
"Very well then. As usual, do whatever you needed to do and come back in my office."
With a glance at the phone, they place the phone on their side before turning to look at Toon town with a curious gaze and interested expression.
"Well well~ Looks like I got some unfinished business needs to be taken care of~"
They snap their finger with a certain purple glow cover their figure from head to toe wearing a nice 1900s white blouse and black skirt all the way to the ankles with black heel boots. A set of pearl necklace placed on their wrist and neck, trailing along their (B/t) body figure. Glasses were gone from them as their dull (E/c) colored eyes look at the purple lighting flow around them. Their (H/c) (H/l) hair was curled nicely and neat as they fix their posture like a proper person would do. Their dull (E/c) colored eyes look at themselves before heading down the trail out in the open surroundings as they carefully walk. "This should be comfortable at least...Now what am I missing...? Oh, right! Alina's lunch!" they said as they snap their finger.
With a snap, a bag filled with a lunch box was placed on their hand as they held it, carefully not to mess up the lunch they made. "Almost forgot about it. Can't have my favorite person go starving without food." they held the bag's handle while looking at the food inside. "Alina's probably waiting for me right now. I better hurry before she does something." as they began to teleport themselves somewhere in Toon town's area. Once they disappeared, little they didn't know that someone in the distance was watching them from behind.
"Looks like Miss Witch is off duty for the day..."
- Cuphead and Mugman were back in Toon Town and on a mission.
- Mugman had a gut feeling back at the forest but, Cuphead cheered him up as usual.
- The reader is on their way to meet up their favorite person, Alina for getting a job at Wish Upon.
- Who was that person back at the forest?
