Pavel let Diana get up from her chair, sticking nearby just in case she collapsed. What she was saying didn’t immediately make sense to him, and he doubted that it was because of the language barrier. Then she was hugging him, and Pavel had no idea what to do except reciprocate very gently.

“W-What did you see?”

frank wasn’t the one to believe in FATE. not anymore, at least. after everything he had been through, it was hard to believe in anything anymore. all he had to go on was himself, and himself alone. around every corner, they could have been there. what corrupt form of government there was left. every move he made had to be cautious and hostile. the very fact that the car didn’t KILL him meant this may very well could have been an accident. but he can’t dwell on it. he has to keep moving. even if the world is still spinning around him.

she’s PANICKED. any average person probably would be. he can feel the blood trickle down his face – but he tries to hide the pain. what pain he feels now is nothing like the pain he’s felt before. the pain of losing a loved one. hand goes to wipe the blood off his face as his eyes scan the area. his bag. where did it go. where. is. it. he spots it, but before his body can lunge at it – he feels her arm LOOP under his.

there’s a SEETHE as she slowly helps him to his feet. he doesn’t know if he would have been able to do that by himself. his eye lands on her. he’s surprised she still wants to help him. seeing some ominous guy with a sorry excuse for an eyepatch. unkempt, but remaining such a way to BLEND IN. maybe she just doesn’t want him to sue her, or something. not like he’d trust the court anyways. he grunts, ❛ i’m – it’s – okay, ❜ he tries to shrug her off. he goes to his duffle bag, picking it back up. ❛ i don’t need – ❜ help. he stumbles slightly. from the way he’s not processing everything, he can only guess that hit gained him a concussion. great. he pauses, knowing she might not let up. ❛ maybe … maybe you can help me. ❜

the soft press of his lips, a hum. it turns into a tight smile. one that doesn’t reach his eyes but it is some show of mirth. diana is right, of course, a miracle that they should meet again. having his memories non existent, he can’t imagine the pain of what diana must have felt upon seeing his face, nor the heartache at losing him. steven, back then, had died for someone he loved. jim, now would to those same actions again. but this time, he had someone to come back to that kept the captain from leaping off that edge.

“i don’t know what to do now. i’ve based myself around circumstance, only to have this revelation dropped on me like an atom bomb.” a brief chuckle. “makes me question everything about my life and what i’m going to do, moving forward.” his says this, almost like a warning to diana. to have two versions of self suddenly merge. to be steve trevor, the man whom diana fell in love with, only to be a carbon copy with different memories. could the goddess accept who jim kirk was?

how she got involved with their crew was still, in itself, unclear. what was clear, however, is that it was a good idea to have her on their side. she would go on about some – god of WAR. some ancient greek stuff in which everyone thought was a bunch of horseshit. it’s not like frank didn’t BELIEVE her. everyone had their ways of coping with war. to morph it into something it’s not in order to push out the realism of the situation. whether that’s finding some greek god to place the blame on or it’s fooling yourself into thinking you’re fighting to PROTECT your country. at the end of the day, everyone knows why they’re there. that reason, in itself, is SELFISH.

the reason she’s here – as him, his lieutenant, and his superiors agreed – can further their cause. be that one step more in this war ending. rawlins went on about how since she KNEW them – knew where they were located – that she couldn’t possibly leave. it was sounding awfully … hostile. as if they were going to FORCE her to stay because she knows about cerberus. frank was the one to remind rawlins who exactly saved them from nearly being wiped out. the least they could do was house her for now. help her, like how she helped THEM. people could be suspicious of her if they wanted. but frank wasn’t. besides. every soldier needs some backup, right?

now everyone’s CHUCKLING. clearly amused about her reaction towards the pie. it isn’t often they have such great food themselves. it’s probably the mixture of lively tastebuds and the overall CHEERFUL mood that brings a smile to his face. ❛ yeah it is, ❜ he laughs through a full mouth of pie. he’s sitting right beside her, everyone scarfing down the treat. it’s been a long time since anyone tasted something as nice as this. he swallows, ❛ say, you ever had pie like this or are ya pullin’ our legs? ❜
