bernard gave a thankful smile, glad to see that decent youngfolk still existed – not that he doubted young people in general, but he’d had his run ins. he shook his head, confident and certain in his nephew’s behavior. “oh, he’d never do that. he gets into trouble from time to time due to that curiosity that runs in the family, but he would never do something so drastic. he’s a good boy,” he said, following the other easily. “thank you for the lift. if you wanted, i could make us some tea if you had the time. i have some wonderful tea cakes to pair with it.”
benjamin couldn’t help but scrunch his nose up slightly at the other’s reply, “i’m sure unsuspecting people say things like that about criminals all the time. he’d never do something like that,” he wet his lips. “--not that i’m suggesting that your nephew is a criminal.” although, you never know. he was probably one of the people least expected to be a cold-blooded murder and yet there he was. as they drew closer to his car, he opened the passenger side door for the man with a smile. “i can always make time for tea cakes.”

IT WAS AN easy thing for Lizzie to get distracted and wrapped up in things around her. Now was no different than any other time. She knew in the back of her mind that she should have been more focused on accompanying her sister considering they had made a pact not to have dates unless they both had them but here she was, fawning over some boy. Though a scene caused not far from her captured her attention and her eyes focused on Josie who had almost spilled the drinks she held onto a stranger. Lizzie decided it was time to swoop in again. She headed toward her sister and placed a gentle hand upon the girl’s back. “Looking for me?” She teased. She was unaware of how spot on the question was. “I didn’t even notice that you weren’t with me anymore. Are you not having a good time?” She cocked her head to the side.
THE HAND FELT upon Josie’s back was unexpected and had the poor girl nearly dropping the drinks once more. Once she heard her sister’s voice, her muscles became less rigid and she let out a gentle sigh of relief. It felt as if the weight of the world had been lifted off of her shoulders in an instant and she could stop worrying for a moment. “Where even did you manage to run off to? I was searching around for you for the past five minutes or so.” She tried her best not to come off sounding irritated or annoyed, especially since Lizzie hadn’t been bothering to pay attention to where she was this whole time. Sometimes it felt as if her caring was a one-way street. How could she even think about having a good time? “I don’t know… parties aren’t really my thing, you know that. There’s a lot of people here.”

Barbara had been having a better time than she expected, making her feel glad her father had pushed her to attend. While her ideal night would have normally been spent cooped up in her room, upgrading an old computer she had gotten for dirt cheap, this wasn’t so bad either. She was about to grab a drink from the refreshments table when she almost had a drink spilled all over her. Luckily gravity had decided to be kind to her and she came out looking spotless. “ It’s okay, no harm done right? ” she reassured the girl with a shrug. When asked if she had seen the other she had to shake her head. “ I can’t say that I have, but I will keep an eye out. “ she promised.
Josie was more than relieved that the drink hadn’t splashed onto the other, especially when she looked so beautiful. She didn’t want to be the reason that someone’s night was ruined. Not when tonight was one of the few times people could forget about their average troubles. She offered the redhead a smile and a nod, “It was worth a try, I don’t know where she could have run off to. It’s not like this is the largest venue or anything.” She chuckled. “Though, I should also probably stop worrying so much.” That was said aloud more for herself than the other. “Are you enjoying yourself so far? You look really pretty!”

Coraline cracked a smile, finding it hard not to show just how good the small action had made her feel. At the offer she gave a small shrug, “ You really don’t have to “ she reassured him. “ But If you’re offering here.. “ she said as she handed him a box full of various trinkets and such. “ We just need to bring this one and another one down to goodwill. “ she said as she scooped up another box into her arms.
The moment the box of various items was offered out to him, he took careful hold of it. “I’d probably feel shitty if I didn’t thank you or repay you somehow. I guess it’s just part of how I was raised. My uncle always taught me that going out of my way to do things for others would get me far in life.” He shrugged. “Plus, carrying this box is a fairly simple task and it’d be pretty lonely to walk all the way there by yourself so I’m also technically keeping you company.” It was a win-win.

His reassurance certainly did bring the messy blonde a little bit of relief. Although she had never really cared about being gawked at before she couldn’t help but feel a little self conscious for looking like a walking art project. “ Well thank you, I’m glad at least someone thinks so. “ she giggled out. “ Four year olds can be quiet a trip… as you can plainly see. “ she motioned down to her messy attire.
“Most people should think the same way. Either that or learn to mind their own business and not stare at others.” Hunter was more than used to his own fair-share of individuals staring at him. Though it wasn’t because of his appearance, it was because all the stories that had generated from his reclusive behavior. “Four-year-olds you say? You definitely deserve more credit, I heard children are rather difficult to deal with at an age like that. Are you a pre-school teacher?”

“ You really think so? “ Max had to ask, as he stood back to admire the whole mural. Up close it looked entirely different but that was to be expected. Looking at the final thing felt as though he was looking at a whole other piece entirely. “ I don’t know about that, dude, I mean if anyone found out i’d be dead, I already can’t leave the house as it is.” he admitted. “ Kinda sounds like Batman if he were an artist instead of a superhero. “ he pointed out with a laugh.
A small empathetic frown formed on Freddie’s lips as he tilted his head to the side slightly, “I understand, it’s a risk most don’t want to take. But, it sucks that your parents won’t let you leave the house. Did they catch onto you or are you grounded for something unrelated?” Though at the comparison he couldn’t help but chuckle out of amusement. “Definitely like artistic Batman, that’s going to be my nickname for you -- Batman.” He scrunched his nose up in a playful manner.

While Coraline found some of it cool, there just wasn’t anymore room for all of it. Besides she didn’t see a point in having a basement full of someone else’s things that she didn’t ever plan on touching. The girl nodded in response. “ Yeah, I’m sure. It’s not like we were doing anything with it. “ She took another look down at the box and dug out the only book that was lying towards the top. She dusted off the cover with her sleeve, before handing it out to him. “ Here, it’s all yours. “ she replied with a casual shrug. It apparently meant more to him then it did her and it was only going to end up in the trash anyway.
A small smile formed across Freddie’s lips, a hint of sadness behind it as he stared down at the book that was being offered out to him. “ You have no idea how much this means to me. ” He wasn’t the type to get emotional over small gestures like this, but he couldn’t help it. Yet it was easy for him to slip back into his nonchalant disposition, “ I feel like I should repay you even though it’s just a dumb book. Do you wanna smoke with me or… I could help you carry some more stuff up that you’re supposed to get rid of? ”

Eden was sure she looked like a complete mess as she walked down the street, her overalls covered completely in different colored paint stains. Even some pieces of her blonde hair were now coated with pink, blue and green paint. She had done a project with the preschoolers which had gotten a little out of hand to say the least. It didn’t take the blonde long to notice the person staring at her, ( not that she could blame them of course ) letting out a slightly embarrassed giggle in the process. “ I know you’re probably thinking I look crazy right now but at least you can’t say that I didn’t have fun. “
Hunter was so accustomed to the monotony of this small town that anything that stood out immediately captured his attention, including the blonde. A smile crept across his lips as he leaned against a nearby wall, “ Crazy? Not at all. There are crazier things to be seen. ” He ran a hand through his hair. “ Though you certainly look as if you had a good time. The best of times can result in the biggest messes, don’t you agree? That’s when the true fun occurs -- when you stop caring about the mess. ” Or at least that was the way he saw it.

Max couldn’t say that he was the best artist out there but he didn’t necessarily think he was bad either. As he stood back to admire his recently sprayed painted art, which just so happened to reside on the side of a public building he couldn’t help but be pleased with himself. As he noticed someone approaching he decided to play it off as nothing. “ That’s kinda stupid don’t you think? Vandalizing something and then leaving the evidence behind right out in the open. Whoever did that must be pretty stupid. “ he pointed out, trying his hardest not to chuckle at his own antaics.
On his way home from school, Freddie came to a stop the moment the other addressed him. He hadn’t even noticed the graffiti at first until the male brought it to his attention, a smirk forming on his lips as he took in the sight of the art. He saw right through the other’s act, “ It’s pretty cool dude. ” He lowered his voice, just in case one of the many nosey police officers happened to be lurking around. It wasn’t like they had anything better to do than eavesdrop in on conversations. “ If I were you I’d be almost tempted to take credit for it. Give yourself this awesome persona like that one guy, Banksy. He’s like this super cool artist with an anonymous identity. Like everyone knows him but no one really knows him at the same time. ”

“ I can’t believe how much junk my parent’s have in our basement. “ Coraline complained as she tossed a handful of random trinkets into the cardboard box that she had gathered up. Her parents had lazily put her in charge of cleaning out the basement, since they claimed to not have anytime to do so. Not only was it her family’s old things that she had to sort through but also the previous owners of the house. While it was certainly a chore the girl had been hoping to find some cool things she could keep among the junk. Maybe even sell some of it. After all was said and done she had hauled out the large box behind her ready to toss out whatever was deemed useless or just plain old trash. When she caught someone looking at the box she gave them a smirk. “ See something you like? You can keep whatever you want. I was just planning on tossing most of it anyway. “
Although Freddie had a habit of minding his own business most of the time, there were rare moments where his curiosity got the best of him. This was one of those moments, his gaze flickering back and forth from the girl to the box that she was carrying. There in the mix of items was a book he recognized from his youth, a tattered copy of strange bedtime stories that most people weren’t aware of. His mouth fell agape, muscles growing rigid the moment she took notice of his staring. “ You’re planning on tossing all of that way? ” He questioned, a bit surprised that someone would be throwing away a box of potential treasures -- but maybe that was just the secret sentimentalist inside of him speaking. He pursed his lips as he closed the space between them, “ Are you sure you wouldn’t mind me taking something? It’s just… that book. It’s the same one my parents used to read to me when I was little. ” Before they died.

“blast that boy,” bernard muttered to himself as he checked his pockets three times over for his wallet and keys. he’d allowed freddie to borrow both to go and grab food or coffee or something, but it seemed they hadn’t yet been returned and bernard was sure it’d been a reasonable time. “i’m terribly sorry – this is beyond embarrassing – could i borrow a ride or some change for a cab? i’d like to get home at a decent hour but it seems my nephew believes i should do otherwise,” he awkwardly joked with a laugh.
benjamin had gone out to run a few ‘ errands ’ and hadn’t really expected to be unexpectedly stopped by someone, a bit on edge. but he relaxed the moment he heard the other’s relayed issue. he what it was like to be in the other’s shoes, but in his case, he never had the money or a nephew to blame. “sure, my car’s parked down a few blocks from here.” he offered a shrug of his shoulders. “are you positive your nephew didn’t just rob you and run away secretly?” he teased before gesturing for the man to follow him.
