current muses
This is such a fun idea, and it was hidden in my likes for quite a long time. Like the lovely Raph did who tagged me, I'm going to highlight some of my current muses here. —
Emma Swan — Once Upon a Time | Emma stood out to me instantly because I found myself relating to her. I was a loner as a child due to being bullied, and I was scared to grow attached to someone. I also had a few broken hearts, but it really came down to that lonely feeling and then wanting to help people. When Emma grew up, she wanted to help people and saw the best in others that many didn't trust. Emma became such a strong character, and in many ways, I have overcome similar walls of my own. Writing about her because of those similarities, exploring her quirks, and diving into her relationships have been fun to write about to this very day. Even the ships I think would have worked but never came to fruition have been interesting. She's helped me think outside the box with other muses.
Kara Danvers — Supergirl | When I first started watching Supergirl for Jeremy Jordan's character, Winn Schott, I thought Kara was intriguing from the start. She had a lot of big shoes to fill with her cousin being Superman, and I was curious how she would handle the pressure. I appreciated how she was down-to-earth and didn't allow her powers to give her a big head. She was very relatable to this younger generation. While I stopped watching after S1, her strong background has made it easy to throw out various ideas and make it possible to continue writing her. I throw her into almost any verse/crossover with ease.
Éowyn — Lord of the Rings | She has been a recent addition to my muse list. I adore her. Whether it's the books or the films, I've really appreciated how she is a strong, independent woman who still dreams of falling in love. She doesn't need a man, but dreams of having an honourable man by her side, like her uncle. She doesn't stick to the stereotypes of staying behind while the men go out to fight, and is not afraid of anything other than losing those she loves. She is also one of my most challenging muses to write. I've always second-guessed myself when it comes to my writing, and she has helped me grow more confident.
Elizabeth Bennet— Pride & Prejudice | obsessed Jane Austen girlie here! I've been writing her for over a decade. Between my favorite 2005 version to the zombie adaptation, she is a character that is complex and full of mystery in any universe she is in. Like Emma, I see a lot of similarities between Elizabeth and me. She was the second character I took on years ago, and due to the nature of Jane's writing style, I was always nervous at the thought of answering a meme or replying to a thread. Between British literary muses like Éowyn and Elizabeth, my confidence has grown immensely.
Belle French — Once Upon a Time | What I said for Emma is almost identical to what I have for Belle here. What I loved about this show is how they made the fairytale characters we all know and love become real. It made it possible for me to have various headcanons, plots, and discover different ships that never were.
past (low muse)
Daisy — Downton Abbey | She is a spunky little thing! I didn't write her much. Maybe once??? She was not afraid to speak her mind once her confidence grew, and it got her into quite a bit of trouble as a result... but I absolutely loved her.
Maggie Greene — The Walking Dead | not really a past character... she's still here, but hasn't been a muse being used at the moment. I love her character on the show. I like that she cared very deeply for her family and didn't do anything without them in mind. She grew up in a good family with parents who raised her well. She never let the world ending around her change and become a vile person. How she viewed others and cared for people in need showed a bit of humanity left in the world. If anyone requested her to write, I would be more than willing to plot something out.
Elizabeth Swann — Pirates of the Caribbean | Like Maggie, Elizabeth Swann is still a muse I have listed, but I haven't had the chance to write her since starting fresh with this blog. I think the last time I did was 7-8 years ago? Not sure. I love how she was a modern woman ahead of her time. She didn't live in fear, nor did she let fear control her, but she did let it drive her to help others and stop those who threatened people. I think she would be a fun character to dive into fully again. A lot of verses, what-if scenarios... I'd be thrilled to write her again.
possible future
Scarlett and/or Donatella Dragna — Caraval | I'm trying to read new books and just finished the Caraval series. There are MANY possibilities, and I find the idea of adding one or both of them very intriguing.
