FOR ALL MY BELOVEDS WHO FOLLOWED ME HERE- a quick guide to who and what my beloved muse is. I really love this character, and the comics and show a lot and am so excited to yap about him again sobs sniffles.
Dream / Morpheus / Oneiros / Sandman- is the lord of, and literal personification of dreams. He possesses absolute control over sleep, dreams, nightmares, and even insomnia. While he is primarily seen as a heroic character, Dream has a lot of flaws that stand out pretty sharply. He has trouble catching sarcasm and jests, causing him to often appear cold and humorless. Dream can also be insensitive, self-obsessed, and slow to forgive or forget what he perceives as slights against him. After his imprisonment he does change some, begrudgingly, and acknowledges most of his flaws. And seems to grow more light hearted, and forgiving. But still retains much of his cold, bitterness at those who have wronged him.
I'm not sure yet. But I might be down to write Daniel Hall here as well. Won't go into spoiler territory on a meta post. But know I am considering him as a muse on this blog as well. If you know, you know.
Of course as one of the endless, and a personification. He's. VERY powerful.
As protector and ruler of the Dreaming, Morpheus has access to all stories ever told. So Dream effectively knows almost everything, including how the Omniverse was created and the stories yet to be told within it.
Dream can open portals to other dimensions at will. He can travel instantly to the Dreaming, and anywhere in the mortal realm that people dream. Uh he can also just. Visit other dimensions? Like he visits hell multiple times.
He can summon dreams, stories, and ideas and send them into the minds of others. He once cursed a man with "eternal waking", causing him to become trapped in an endless loop of awaking from a nightmare.
Fear projection. Pretty straight forward I feel.
Naturally. Since the dreaming is his domain, his realm. He can warp it as he so chooses. Dream's power is after all directly connected to the Dreaming. So inside the Dreaming, he can effortlessly alter reality on a universal scale. His 70 year absence from the Dreaming had a caused the realm to decay and rot. His absence also altered reality in the waking world, causing people to fall asleep and never wake up, become eternal sleepwalkers, or cursed people to have such severe insomnia to the point that they died.
He lives off of dreams. Like he can eat and drink. But a lot of his energy and power comes from dreams.
Morpheus can completely alter his physical appearance in order to appear in a guise that mortal beings can more easily comprehend.
Dream can conjure illusions at will. His illusions are real enough to the point where they can be physically interacted with by other beings, as dreams and reality are far closer to one another than most realize.
As one of the endless, and a personification... he is immortal. He will continue to exist so long as one sentient being is capable of dreaming. It is important to note that if an Endless is destroyed, its personality and powers are transmitted to another person, who will become the new embodiment of that aspect.
GOD he's really powerful. This really is only scratching the surface. But he does have a pretty massive weakness- one that is exploitable if used properly against him. Rules. Morpheus is very adamant about rules, and his responsibilities to his realm / domain. Despite his seemingly endless list of powers, Dream, like the rest of the Endless, is bound to a complex set of rules and customs that limit his abilities. And limit what he is allowed to do without serious repercussions.
