la vie en mars.

          nolan lovell had to be one of the WORST present giver in all of the history of new zealand; meaning christmas was just a nightmare. that probably explained why he was just know out & about shopping for his family. the young male was completely distracted by his own thoughts as he walked past a shop – of course his klutzy self would manage to run into someone. 

          “   shucks ! i’m sorry too.   ”  as he sees the hand, & who it’s connected to, nolan smiles softly. he takes the hand & pulls himself up.  “   you okay rémy ? i didn’t hurt you or anything right ?   ”   

remy rook a step back, startled. he drew a hand up to his chest and pointed to himself. “you’re being nice to me. you... aren’t yelling at me. any of the barclay sisters would give me a piece of their mind right about now, and you’re married to one and you-- are being nice.” he squinted at nolan. “did you hit your head recently?”

          sunwoo is sitting there, gritting his teeth at the fact that rèmy called him  ‘  sunny  ’  as well as the fact that he thought sunwoo wouldn’t actually do anything about it.  “   i can threaten you with a black eye, a broken rib —– there’s a handful of things that i can think of. & whether or not she’s mad about it is something i can deal with later.   ”

“i don’t give a shit, bro. whatever misplaced anger you have, come at me with it. jesus, work your problems out some other way too. kaia and i talked this shit over; we’re done. you have no business butting in.”

“Australian Chris?” she asked, tilting her head to the side, before it clued in. “Oh! The America one- or whatever superhero he was.” Celeste nodded her head. “Is it one of those bikini sweaters, or is he wearing an actual sweater that he just happens to look good in?”

he narrows his eyebrows. “what do you mean by a bikini sweater? like a cropped sweater? i’d die the day i see chris evans in a cropped sweater.”

justice takes the opportunity to throw her legs over remy’s lap, stretched out across the couch as she is. “i told you to bribe them out here.” she nudges his thigh with her heel and swallows the rest of her comments about training as it pertains to curling.

“drinking is fine, have you made any friends with their royal douchebags? i want to raid the drinks carts in the palace again, that was fun.”

“hey, one of those royal douchebags is-- was my girlfriend. i can’t been seen around any royals or they’d royally lead me to the chopping block. sunwoo almost gave me a black eye the other day, but nolan was cordial, so i have no idea what the fuck that was about.” he sighed. “let’s just-- get drunk the old fashioned way: seduce a man.”

“I, um– can you say that again, slower?” Lera frowned, finding that she seemed to know the meaning of each of those words separately but having absolutely no idea what they meant combined. “Or, actually, could you say different words? Maybe English ones?”

he looks at her with a blank stare. “those were all in english. it’s not my fault you haven’t been enlightened by the aran delight that is the sweater covering one chris evans’s muscles in the murder mystery event of the season.”

“oh no,” she felt a flutter of excitement rile up in her chest and she stood from her seat, moving her gown out of the way to sit beside remy on the seat. “who’s this dreaded ex? so i know to avoid her at all costs.” she knew that was the last thing she was going to do but he didn’t have to know that. “well, i can certainly get you a drink that can help.” she sets her glass on the small table, grabbing one of the bottles kept under. “maybe we’ll just go straight for scotch.” she ponders, pouring some in a teacup. “here you go.”

remy groaned pitifully and remained curled in a melodramatic ball even as the teacup was set down before him. “her name is kaia, we met during a state visit to australia. she was the light of my life,” he moaned, a high-pitched, keening thing. “until i broke up with her! god, i am such an idiot.”

“Oh, yeah, no. Absolutely not.” Dmitry grinned, pushing up the sleeves of his sweater to show the layers of small scars on his knuckles. “My aunt had us all doing martial arts instead– I don’t think I ever didn’t have bruises. What were you doing? Theatre?”

“oh no, i did ice skating. that makes it even harder to hide bruises because of the light. luckily, the tights tend to hide almost anything nefarious that might be going on.”

a look of alarm quickly morphed into one of pure amusement at her explanation and request, a cheeky little smile threatening to betray his laughter. “do you want to get on one horse, then? you can cling to me and trust that i won’t let either of us fall and embarrass ourselves.” rhys assured, highly entertained at the notion. “though, if either of us did, i’d also pretend like it never happened.”

she let out a peal of incredulous laughter. “if you make me fall, i am going to be contacting the crown for some sort of compensation. i’ve paid for your time, mr glyndwr. i expect to not be hurt during it.” she hit his lapel lightly with her gloved hand, then smoothed down the front of his coat. “i would love to share a pony with you. isn’t that how all estranged mother-father co-parenting couples begin their courtship?”

rhys hardly hesitated in making a new arrangement for dinner, quickly grabbing his phone to call in a favor or two before tucking it back into his pocket. his fingers bump into something else along the way: a carefully rolled blunt. a flicker of annoyance, mostly at himself, passed over his features before it was soothed over with what he hoped was a reassuring smile.

“we’ll have something here in twenty minutes, tops. i figured we wouldn’t want to trek through the snow or anything like that.” he stated,

piper continued cleaning the kitchen, a rare moment of respite where she knew another pair of eyes would look after oliver even if she was occupied with a different task. after she washed her hands, she walked over to rhys, gently placing her fingers over his wrists and looking up at him. she didn’t know how to do this-- whatever this is. 

“called in a royal favour?” her nose crinkled at him in amusement.

“never learned to skate you caught me there.” normally fionn loved to tell every pretty girl he met that he was a prince right off the bat, but being in genovia and surrounded by all the stuffy royals he felt like playing his cards tighter to his chest. “how about this, i give you three guesses and if you get it right you get a prize.”

“at this points, i’m too old to play games with men in bars.” she gave him a look and went back to sipping her drink. she waits a moment, then holds out her hand. “i’m piper, by the way.”

@ofcrwns​ // seeing remy hurt. kaia had done so well after the break up to avoid him, she had returned all the things he had given her and burned the rest of it in a bonfire before jetting off to genovia. but seeing those familiar features that she had once loved (still loved) made all of those unresolved feelings bubble up to the surface. she’d never wanted to slap someone more in her life, never wished anyone harm or violence, but he almost deserved it. keeping her fury at bay, she glared daggers at him. “what are you doing in genovia?” she snapped, not caring that she likely would be causing a scene if she were any louder. half of her hoped that he was here to make amends, to ask her for her forgiveness, but such foolish hopes were meant for children. “quickly, i don’t have all day.”

rémy wouldn’t say that seeing kaia was easy. he had to figure it was probably easier for him than it was for her; he knew the reasons why they broke up, he knew why she was hurting. she didn’t. but that still didn’t make it easy.

he drew up short, letting out a sigh and digging his hands into his pockets. “uh, hey kaia.” rémy cleared his throat. “i-- uh, have some training here. and justice does too, so i’m tagging along. strictly business.”

though alec was rather close to justice, he’d only ever shared a couple words in passing with her best friend. startled by remy’s sudden appearance in front of him, a dimpled grin tugged at his lips at his uncalled for, but welcome company. shifting lazily in his seat, he peered around as though to check for her appearance before shrugging.

“i think she’s probably at practice, you know how they overwork her.” he sighed dramatically. “i guess you’re stuck with me though. sucks, doesn’t it?”

rémy gulped, and he tried to hide how large the gulp felt. a nervous chuckle followed on its heels. “i mean, maybe. depends. are you doing anything interesting today? i mean-- we-- don’t even hang out.”

estelle had been enjoying herself a romance novel and eating delicate fruits form her plate. didn’t matter the hour, she was quite fond of snacks. preferred them to meals, always. when remy had found himself in her presense, she looked up, her attention wavered from the steamy material on the pages.

“do you now?” it’s close to a coo, but not quite. “would you like tea? or are you suggesting something with more kick.” she’s wearing a long gown, since she never wants to appear in any way other than elegant and beautiful. 

“my ex girlfriend is in town,” he moaned miserably. rémy covered his face dramatically, letting his head hang off the back of his chair. “whatever will make me forget this terrible pit in my stomach. she yelled at me, essie. it was awful.”

there were many people fraser liked. he was pretty easy to get along with. but he and remy have known each other a long while, and he always had a soft spot for him. they were two wild lads and he always loved the companionship in partying. so as he sat back in the comfortable seat, drink he hand, he looked over to his friend. “so you doing all that training business here? or just found out i was here and decided to join along?”

rémy shrugged. “i’m just chilling, really. there’s minimal support for curling around these parts. and justice wanted me to tag along since there’s canadian boogeymen in the vicinity.” he ran a finger over the rim of his glass. “but kaia’s here. so who knows how long i’ll stick around.”

A short laugh arose from the back of Celeste’s throat. She had been on her way inside when she had heard the voice speak. “I don’t think I’ve seen it,” she said truthfully. She had never been on to keep up with films. “Which Chris is in that one again?”

“it’s like--” he moved his hand in circles as he thought. “it’s the one in the red, white, and blue. that chris. the superior chris in my opinion, since he can really pull off that sweater. you should definitely go see it.”

          there’s an actual chuckle that comes from sunwool, yet it sounds as if he’s mocking the other.  “   you want to try that one again ?   ”  he rolls his eyes at the boy.  “   you’re not being cute, y’know – so why don’t you knock it off before i give you something to worry about.   ”

“that’s where you’re wrong, sunny. i’m always cute.” he gave sunwoo a look and fiddled with somethiing in his back pocket. “besides, what would you even threaten me with? as much as she might think she wants to see me beaten up, i not only doubt you could do it, i think she’d be mad at you for it.”
