“ YEAH THOSE ARE THE ONES ” he nods with a smile on his face, the loud laugh from the other just makes him laugh. “ yeah, i don’t think we’d be where we are if it wasn’t for them. “ he hums he’s fiddling with his sleeves, he cherishes his own fans. and knows they wouldn’t be half up there in the world if it wasn’t for them and it makes him smile. “ you handle all the cooking ? “ he laughs at the thought. “ who doesn’t like being clingy. “ he was clingy, and he knew that and he nods. “ yeah i definitely am, i can’t help it. “ 

“i envy your fanbase sometimes.” minhee admits, sighing softly. “we have a relatively steady one, but not nearly as dedicated or as loud and passionate as yours did. or as big.” he smiles gently, before laughing at the question. “you expect anyone else in my black hole of a group to make sure all ten of us get fed? i don’t know how our managers keep up honestly.” he giggles softly. “i love being clingy, you can just ask min-” he claps his hand over his mouth, eyes wide. “you didn’t hear that. nothing was said.” he chuckles nervously. “clingy is great though. who doesn’t love affection from the others? that’s the best part of being in a group, in my opinion.”

“couldn’t agree more.” moonsil affirmed. “i just wanted to see how you were feeling. you do so much for all of us, and i wanted you to know how much everyone appreciates you.” he really hoped his sentiment was ringing genuine. he’d hate for his group mate to think him as some sort of snake, some sort of liar. “hey, hey, give your guys some credit. you were thrown into some pretty hot water when you debuted … you guys were all pretty young.” they all were, really. no matter how much moony felt he had trained, he can’t shake the feeling that he never would have been truly ready to debut. “okay, okay. i believe you. how are you feeling? like, in general, i mean. overwhelmed or anything like that?”

“oh stop i don’t do that much.” he laughs softly. “i just make food and sing some stuff, not a big deal honestly. well the making food part is, otherwise i think you guys would starve...” he can’t help but let out a chuckle at the thought of his groupmates fighting over food if he wasn’t there to make it for them. “moonsil... we are the same age bud.” he shakes his head. “i’m feeling pretty good, i suppose. i think we are all a little bit anxious for a comeback, but who knows when that will be, honestly.”

the mere concept of being the mom friend never enticed ruby. she frowned at his words, shaking her head while trying to convey her sympathy. still, ruby knew her own shortcomings. she understood that it might have come across as being a little condescending – but, for the first time in a long time, she didn’t mean for it to come across as such. “being the mom means they listen to you sometimes at least, right?” she hoped as much for the boy. “if not, i can go and talk some sense into them, if you’d like. i’ve been told i’m very persuasive … on account of i can scare anyone in this company within an inch of their life, if i feel like it.” it felt a little odd to be offering such help to him, but who knew if he needed it? “i’ll talk to the other leader too. sounds like he needs to start pulling his weight.” the reality that liqin was so, so young when the group debuted struck a chord in ruby. it was a surprising sort of thing; starting so young in the industry wasn’t new to her, but thinking of having to deal with someone like that on a daily basis … wow. “oh my god.” she commented. “that’s wild. how old were you when you debuted again?”

“they really do try and listen to me when they’re not bouncing off the walls, or exhausted from dance practice. it really just depends on the mood. the maknae line tends to listen to me a lot more than anyone else, but that’s probably because i don’t tattle on them breaking their diets.” he laughs softly, shaking his head at her proposition. “i’ve heard the same rumors, but i think you’d scare them a little bit too much, might have some broken kids.” he’s just teasing, and his sticks his tongue out at her in playful jest. he smiles warmly, thinking back to their debut. “well, i just turned 24, and i started training when i was 19, almost 20... i think i was about 21, 22 when i debuted? we debuted in 2017, so...”

           ᴛᴀᴇᴍɪɴ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ'ᴛ ᴅɪꜱᴀɢʀᴇᴇ ʙᴜᴛ ʜᴇ ᴀʟꜱᴏ ᴄᴏᴜʟᴅɴ'ᴛ ꜱᴀʏ ᴀɴʏᴛʜɪɴɢ. taesong wasn’t as bad as some people his age and that brought relief to him. taemin tried, but his patience ran thin most times. a soft smile came about in his features “ —— i guess. can’t complain much though, although tae can be a real brat sometimes. he still works so hard and behaves in the important moments. ” his shoulders roll uncomfortably; this is the longest he’s been sitting down in a while and it’s taking him a toll “ —— i’m grateful. but you’re only misplaced, your talent is being wasted. ” the one thing people could appreciate from min was honesty. pure, raw honesty “ —— takes everyone a bit. you’ll get there. ”

“yeah i could say the same about our maknae, well all the members really. they're a pain in the ass sometimes, but i adore them all, if i’m being honest.” minhee smiles gently, head tilted slightly as he takes in taemin’s words. “i mean, i like our songs a bunch, so that’s not where i’m having issues, it’s more the youthfulness of our concepts. i like them well enough, but i just wish our concept was really growing with us, you know? we only get to do more mature stuff when we go covers, not our own music.” he shrugs lightly, not really phased. “eh, you have a smaller group size. it’s one of the many gripes i’ve heard from the general public about us. too many members.”

                — he huffs at minhee’s teasing, jokingly pushing him away before wiggling back over to him seconds later. “ just because you’re not in the dance line doesn’t mean you’re not good at dancing. plus… i like hearing you sing. you have a nice voice — okay. so maybe i just like watching your fancams. it’s fun. ” minsoo groans and covers his face with his free hand, embarrassed that he actually admitted it out loud. he doesn’t feel the need to hide things when he’s with minhee, not like with other people, but it doesn’t mean that he’s not awkward and embarrassed by it. his brain is telling him ‘ because minhee is pretty and has a nice voice and maybe i like him a lot but is it in just a bro way? ’ but that is definitely something he’s not ready to admit out loud yet. he knows minhee wouldn’t make fun of him for it. not in a serious, mean way anyway. but he can’t help but still be scared, anxious. 

“ kind of. ugh. some of them are okay but then they whip out the mesh, or the low cut shirts. i swear sometimes they give me more cleavage than yuna. i don’t get it. i swear, if my mother ever sees, she may have a heart attack, ” he laughs, because he would love to see his mother’s face if she saw what kind of concept he was in. “ it’s okay? thank you — i really need a break from my own dorm. ” the ‘ and i want to stay with you ’ part of his sentence goes unspoken. 

minhee pouts when minsoo pushes him away, but quickly wraps his arms around the other’s waist when he moves back closer. “i’m not bad at dancing, i am a lead dancer! i’m just teasing you, cutie.” he pats minsoo’s cheek with a giggle. “that’s all i wanted to hear.” he sneaks a kiss to the top of minsoo’s head, cheeks flushing slightly after he pulls away, coughing slightly. “anyway.” he can feel the heat rising in his cheeks, and he buries his face into minsoo’s chest to avoid the younger boy seeing the mess that he has become, just by simple gestures and the proximity of the both of them. he’s sure that he has a crush on the younger boy, but he isn’t sure where minsoo stands on the issue, or if anything could even come from it. surely it would be difficult to sneak around, but sometimes, minhee can’t help but think about it. 

“but you have a nice chest, who wouldn't want to see that?” he closes his mouth, eyes wide as he realizes what he just said. “i mean...” he can’t even come up with a good response for that, so he just moves on. “but i’m sure you pull off the concept beautifully! it sounds like something that would really fit you, honestly.” he smiles brightly up at minsoo, eyes crinkling at the corners just slightly as he gazes at the younger boy for just a minute too long. “my bed is always open.” his face flushes again at the double meaning, cheeks tinged just ever so slightly a pink-ish red. 

the  woman’s  eyes widened  as  he  called  her  out  for  the  lack  of  attention  she  was  giving  him.  “it’s  not  that …”  she  sighed  at  the  realisation  that  yet  another  person  would  see  her  as  the  rude  and  intimidating  type  that  wasn’t  able  to  converse  with  anyone.  “i  just  have  a  lot  on  my  mind.”  that  was  an  understatement.  while  jinah’s  voice  was  valued  in  impulse,  she  wasn’t  the  one  to  bring  them  together  and  she  had  a  feeling  that  they  could  do  it  without  her.  however,  this  life  was  all  she  knew  and  she’d  be  lost  without  solar,  even  though  it  had  seemed  to  damage  her.  jinah  would  keep  going  back  to  them  as  this  was  the  only  thing  she  had  and  she  didn’t  want  to  lose  that … “from  what  i  can  remember,  we  were  generally  a  tidy  group.”

minhee feels bad once the words leave his lips, a pout appearing on his face. he hadn’t meant to call her out like that, but sometimes minhee just couldn’t control his words before he spoke. it was something he had trained extensively out of himself, but sometimes he still slipped, just luckily not on camera. “i get that, especially since you’re such a huge senior.” he leans forward on his hands.  “aren’t most girl groups? i mean... boys are usually a lot messier, but i can’t really speak for anyone else, i suppose.”

liqin was practically bouncing with restless energy in the van’s seat—he was either excitedly chatting about whatever the current topic was, singing some title track of theirs to the camera, or jostling his leg up and down in a fidgety manner. fortunately (or unfortunately for his seatmate), the seating arrangement of their group had him next to byeol as the former turned to demand attention and rope him in to doing a game.

❝ gē,  let’s do an acrostic poem !! the one who has the weirdest sounding one has to obey what the winner decides as a consequence !! ❞ the male suggested to the aforemtioned older male; liqin was rather confident in his ability to create poems, but he was still worried at the possibility of accidentally messing up with similar sounding words or making a nonsensical poem.  ❝ or we could play rock, paper, scissors ?? ❞ that was probably a better chance for him to win, despite the chances being split to three items.  

minhee had been trying to sleep, still exhausted from the hours of dance practice he had endured (not to mention the staying up late to text minsoo but that was something else entirely) but he couldn’t help but open one eye to look at the maknae, smiling gently at the wild energy the younger always seemed to hold. he really was glad to be in the group with the other boy, in the same unit for that matter. liqin always managed to bring up minhee when he was in a bad mood, or make him not feel tired when he felt otherwise. 

“an acrostic poem? now you’re just trying to make me your slave, aren’t you, lili?” he laughs softly, reaching out to pat liqin’s cheek gently. even though he was better at korean, having spoken it his whole life, liqin always managed to beat him in word games and puzzles, which utterly baffled him. “what’s with all the energy today? you were at dance practice just as long as i was, and we know how tiring the genie choreography is.”
